Rain, Rain, Rain
Left Canopener for Tickfaw SP,La. They closed the park due to flooding. Had to leave.
Lake Fause SP didn't look good, so we are now in Scott,La.
The rain has not Stopped ,Louisiana is soaked. Hard to get any sleep with the storms, but plan on staying put.
The people living in the area are going to have a hard time.
Have never seen so much rain in an Hour in my life !
Might stay connected in case we have to move.

Next time you're in the area, you might consider Bogue Chitto State Park, up by Franklinton, LA. The bottomland sites are subject to flooding when the Bogue Chitto River comes up (as it is doing now) but the upland sites should stay high and dry. I've stayed there before, when I got out of town for Mardi Gras last year. Decent scenery, and on the Ridge Run hiking trail, during one ealy morning walk, I flushed a doe and two wild turkeys. Rabbits can be a nuissance, though; they're tame enough to come up to the campsites and beg for a handout.

Hi you two!
Yep, what it does know how to do down there is RAIN. The kind of rain that fills the streets and your shoes.
You are pretty far south in Scott, and I suspect the water table gets higher and higher the closer you get to the Gulf.
Chicot State Park is nice, farther north, but until the rains stop you are probably best staying where you are lest you find yourself caught someplace.
Natchitoches, Louisiana, is even farther north, and one of our favorite places down there. Beautiful, historic town and riverfront, lots of history and museums/plantations to explore.
Have a great time and take care,
Maggie

I've said it before about our rain; I'll probably say it again, because it's too good a catchphrase to lose: "People in Louisiana don't tan. They rust!"
I'm definitely dreading the drive home from work today. Street flooding in New Orleans is not fun at rush hour.

Our very first trip to New Orleans in 1992, we were on a walking tour of the Quarter when it began to RAIN.
The streets filled up, we decided to abandon our tour, and discovered the Cafe Maspero.

Ken & Marie; THANKS, according to the weather reports, that same rain is heading north to us. I hope that you have either the Yaks or canoe with you. Insurance, you know. Keep all of us posted on your journey. "knunut travels" ? Have fun and safe trip.

Time to make 'lemonade' out of that downpour of 'lemons'...
Break out the wash brush and a splash of detergent in a 5 gal bucket, douse the RV and let the torrential rains rinse it clean of all that road crud...
We've stayed at Lake Fause SP a few years back and enjoyed the area - of course it wasn't 'flooding' at that time, I can see that could be a BIG problem this month! The Mosquitos did drive us inside in the evening, however...
We got our supply of Tabasco products over on Avery Island during that trip...!

We scooted through Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana two days ago, only to hit two solid days of rain in Texas. Brutal. And, cold. Just arrived in Benson, Arizona in time for the cold front which is going to set record lows!
Rethinking winter travel.

Ditto that.
Made it to Baton Rouge Monday night and then two days of driving across Texas in a pressure wash. This is how you find out where the leaks are!!
Sitting in Rodeo NM waiting for the freeze! I store the trailer in Phoenix and now I have to winterize?

Sorry for those of who are suffering through the rain.
It's been pouring here, and we're happy!

We're camped in Benson AZ for the nite and headed to Blythe tomorrow. So instead of finally hitting some warm weather, we are going right into a cold front! BLECH!
Well, at least it is dry.
