Pricey Globetrotter in Eugene, Oregon
Driving past the local dealer (George Sutton RV) this afternoon I saw that they are selling a '65 Globetrotter. So I stopped for a quick look. (Well, wouldn't you?)
Nicely polished (not mirror), axle looks good, weight distributing hitch, dings in both rear corners, carpeted interior, possibly newer refer.
I didn't spend too long looking because... are you seated comfortably?... $22950.
Don't all rush at once,
Brian

I've seen vintage AS on their lot before that I thought were priced WAY more than they were worth. But you never know, they might move them if the right person comes along, and it's still a lot cheaper than a new one.

Eugene is full of rich lawyers, doctors, university profs, EarthFirsters (we'll destroy the other planets later - already got Pluto), and other well-to-do left wingers, so Suttons' is just playing their market. What we don't know is what any of these overpriced vintage Airstreams actually sell for. Still, I'd be embarrased to ask that for a trailer that was not totally perfect. This one has dents?? I'm working on a '62 Globetrotter over the winter and it has NO dents. Think what I can ask for it next spring!!! Darol

How about a Bambi II for the Buy It Now price of $39,000.00 on ebay.

if they get 23K for that trailer good for them!
vintage airstreams are just like vintage harley's. there is a limited supply, that's all there is.
i will be leaving for my annual trip to davenport iowa for the annual antique motorcycle club of america swap meet and vintage races. every year the price of quality vintage machines seems to go up in increments of 2500 dollars! when i got my '55 harley it was a fair buy at 3500 dollars, now it would be a fair sale in the mid/low 20K range.
so if you want cool old stuff, get it now. it will only cost more next year!

For 22K I was expecting a way cooler interior. But maybe you could get financing since it is at a dealers.

Uberlanders,
Be nice, I know the former owners and they did not sell it for anywhere near 22K. They really have sellers remorse now.

That is a huge bummer that they know that the dealer is trying to sell the trailer for that price. I wasn't knocking the interior, I was just thinking that for 22K it would look something like you find on Vintage Vacations, you know new marmolite, atomic countertops, new cabinetry and the like.

If you own a Bambi II you have something that less than 200 people in the world have or will ever have. Now that and $1.65 may only get you a cup of coffee at 7 Eleven but it is still true. I think that we are just starting to see the real value of our vintage Aluminum Globes.

to again use the vintage harley example, original and unmolested commands top dollar.
