Back in the 70's, there was a nearby state-run asylum which was under-funded and poorly run. The inmates were mostly "certifiable." On some nights and weekends, staff members were few and far between.

A pregnant inmate went into labor in the middle of the night, and there was no one there to help her. Other inmates came to her rescue, delivered the baby successfully, and had this to say to the incredulous media the next day:

"Just us nuts here . . . "

Let's go to zombie land! No breathing required. It could be argued that zombies are still breathing - otherwise how would they be able to moan. But they're zombies and have zombie powers. I'm convinced zombies don't breathe so no need to gasp. Ergo, no last gasp.

No, I'm not calling anyone a zombie. Just kickstarting (perhaps) the conversation.

My knowledge of zombies has evolved. Everything I know about them I learned from movies, a perfect educational source. I have watched a fair amount of 1930's zombie movies and consider them much more accurate than the stuff of this generation of movies and TV shows. The same is true of vampire movies. They go back to the classic Nosferatu from the 1920's.

We were watching the other night a Bela Lugosi 1935 movie, The Mark of the Vampire, with a twist at the end that was clever, but a convention that had been done before in Hollywood films. Basically a B movie, it still taught us a lot about vampires. Lionel Barrymore was also in it and I wonder if he needed the money. It had another way to kill a vampire, not the wooden stake way, so I equate this movie as not to educational. I am not sure why people don't want to be vampires—you live forever, never age, are very strong, can fly. I know the diet is not very appealing, but the trade off may be worth it. It is certainly a better "life" than being a zombie. But the idea that zombies eat brains and their body parts fall off is relatively modern, probably dating back to the original Night of the Living Dead. The (probably 1930's) movie I vaguely recall about zombies shows they were people who had been cursed in a voodoo ceremony and appeared to be in a trance and under the direction of someone, not actually dead. I have been looking for this movie for years, but it hasn't showed up on TCM (or I missed it). Sometimes primary sources are hard to find.

My original point was the Forum has been "cleansed' of fun and is gasping for Air.

Given that the Breakfast Show has been closed for cleaning, perhaps it is time to open the "Last Gasp Cafe" . . . . . . for some Brunch Covidian?

It has been closed for two and a half months. Maybe the vacuum is broken? Maybe it needs some Lysol injected.

Looking for Brunch Covidians to clean with Dyson vacuums. It is like dealing with an HOA board.
