Peter I sent you a column and if you want you can paste it in since I have forgotten how to do that. They corrected the misspelling in the head in both the print and current web editions. Why it is not in the web version I don't know, but they were still working on the Op/Ed pages last night which is very late for a Sunday paper. There are two web editions—one of which works better.

The Sentinel is now shutting down its presses and is going to have the paper printed in Montrose 60 miles way. The presses are 40 years old and they have to fabricate parts themselves and it costs too much to replace the press. Those presses could probably print hundreds of thousands of papers overnight but were purchased when the future for newspapers looked bright. I think they only had to run them a half hour since the circulation is so far down. I don't know how they keep it going except the radio stations are still money makers. The publisher is committed to the paper and there may be family money behind it. The TV stations just copy the newspaper and do a little video. Without the Sentinel local pols would get away with even more stupid stuff. They tried to give a lucrative county attorney position to a political hack with a poor record as an attorney, but the paper stopped them.

Thumbs up

Thanks Gene
A great column
The conclusion:
"Hospital CEOs, you’ve made hospitals quieter, expanded visiting,
made rooms better, but there’s much more to do.
Establish senior committees to recommend changes.
We’re your most experienced customers.
Exhausted, anxious customers neither come back nor heal well.
Let’s be a national leader in healing and compassion."

Hi Peter, do you know it makes it difficult to read your posts with them being centered like that. Why not just let the text flow with the word wrap and save the fancy stuff for another day?

I think it adds visual interest in a way different from 2Air's.

A reminder that this excellent documentary is free all week. Amazon may in fact drop it entirely from its line-up, if recent practices are any indication IMO. It would still be available on the PBS website, but might require a membership fee to access it.

Flush left . . .

Did he really say that out loud?

Elon Musk: A "bunch of people will probably die" going to Mars

I related news, SpaceX has begun selling tickets on Spaceships to Mars.

Just......damn.

Not an unrealistic statement. Will Musk be one of them?

Musk fits into a type of entrepreneur of the American version who do and say outrageous things, but do produce some amazing things. As corporate leaders seem to get more and more drab and try to scrape up every penny they can grasp, imagination has gotten rare. I don’t want to buy one of his cars (despite owners loving them, they have a way to go before they are safe and reliable) or get on a spaceship just yet, but his accomplishments are admirable.

Daaaang. Dodged a real bullet on that one, Bob. Glad to see the other "tests" turned out like you wanted.

P.S. Had Covid 19 over Christmas (No B.S., it really happened). Was a mild case. Had all my shots now. Ready to go climb some mountains and stuff.

Semper Fi, dude. We miss your humor 'round here.

Go Army!

Million dollar idea for somebody.

Mouse flavored cat food.

Think about it.
