Wow!, It's nasty out there. The silver lining about these storms is we could have a killer wildflower bloom this year.

It started here in Angel Fire about an hour ago and supposed to last until Saturday morning. We're stocked with food and lots of fuel for the tractor, but I sure hope this isn't as bad as the weatherpeople are saying. We DO want to pull out with the Airstream in a couple of weeks!

Winds gusting 35-40 or higher - they've picked up in the last few minutes - and quite a bit of blowing dust in Casa Grande but no rain yet despite all the green that the map has shown over us. Guess it must be evaporating before it hits the ground. I'm sure we'll get our share before it ends.

Yes you do want to pull out in a couple of weeks. Maybe you should move the trailer closer to the road...

Oh, it's in the very first site at the front, about 50 yards from the highway. We pulled it up there around the beginning of December. Alas, we've certainly experienced snows up here that make 50 yards look like 50 miles.

Well gang, I can share this with you folks. Sitting in N.Dakota one evening on a small lake. Sky darkened. Then went BLACK....here if comes!! No place to go so we locked the windows on the 29' Excella, open a beer and sat back. The rain sounded like steel shot against the skin; so black you could not see anything through the windows but solid black. Trailer rocked and rolled, rain and wind blasted. Thirty minutes later skies cleared. We found the people in the big 5th wheel down the shore still on their knees praying-faces pale. Stuff missing off their rig. They said it almost tipped over a couple times.
Us?......couple beers. The storm hit Bismark 30 minutes later with three deaths and couple million in damages.

A Tornado Watch has just been posted for Casa Grande, the Phoenix area, etc until 10PM. Winds here are gusting well over 50 and lots of blowing dust. At times visibility down to 150-200 feet. Still no rain beyond a couple of very brief sprinkles and the sun looks like it just came out. Glad I'm parked and not out on the road somewhere.

Right now we are being hammered by very heavy rain and wind. I had to pump a couple of inches of water out of the pool this afternoon and it is almost back to the same level again. I would estimate that we have received around 5+ inches of rain this week.

That may not sound like a lot to some people, but Phoenix only averages 7 inches a year.

We have had non-stop high wind and rain all afternoon and evening. Our pool will likely be filled to the brim if not overflowing by morning.

Arose at 5 am to find 30 inches of thick, wet snow and still coming down hard. We only had moderate winds up here in the Gila so the drifting is minimal.

Not much here in the West Valley

As of 6am this Friday morning, according to the weather station down the street, we have had only 1.20 inches of rain since January 1st. The highest wind gust was only 18 mph.

Again, the West Valley seems to have been spared the heavy weather that occurs elsewhere in Maricopa. Despite their small size, the White Tank and Estrella Mountains seem to deflect the weather patterns coming from the west and south.

It rained and blew in Ajo all night. Finally moderated to showers this morning. We've been coming down here for fifteen years; have never seen such weather! I spoke too soon, the heavy rain just started again.

Lots of rain out here in Wittmann. 3-4", washes running heavy, the tracks were shut down and we went home early. Went out to Wickenburg and the normally dry Hassaampa river was flowing a good clip. And of course the Airstream is leaking around the A/C. Adios, John

We lost a very large mesquite tree last night in the storm. This tree has been a worry of ours over the years and last night was just too much wind and water to keep it up. The good news is that it did not land in my neighbors pool, but instead landed in my back yard and caused no damage where it fell.

Deadhorse firewood? That's just what happened to me in the last storm to blow through. Guess mother nature likes us 4CU'ers.
