Pay Pal concerns regarding buyer

I am seeking advice or experience with the use of Pay Pal. I have a potential buyer insisting to only use Pay Pal for the purchase of my Airstream. Are there any concerns or scams regarding potential buyers and the use of Pay Pal? This buyer is willing to pay my asking price, no questions asked about the trailer or condition of it. It just sounds too easy and makes me suspicious.

YES. be suspicious, be very suspicious! AVOID!
It is easy, very easy, to reverse a transaction with paypal. Plus they take about 3%. If they want some measure of security, use an escrow service. YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF with paypal.

It has happened to me. A client of mine had a dispute with his biz partner regarding finances and he called paypal and lied to them, saying his credit card that was used in the transaction to pay me was stolen (his attempt at solving his dispute w/ his partner).

Paypal did not even care to look at the contract they had signed with me , authorizing the payment - they reversed it and i was out $5k. Any level of buyer / seller protection means nothing at all because the buyer can always screw you this way.

Lemme guess... he's willing to pay your asking price right now, but can't talk with you on the phone because he's an oceanographer out at sea and has no voice service (but internet works fine for him, right?) Is he buying it for his father?

Not having heard any more than "paypal only, willing to pay asking without question" it smell like the scam I outlined above. It's a standard script they use over and over again, if it resembles what I laid out in the first paragraph, just walk away and wait for a real buyer.

I agree-- too many Paypal scams out there.

If you suggest a sound alternative and they won't take it, be very suspicious.

Ask for a deposit to hold the trailer via Paypal and that you will apply that toward the final purchase via bank transfer or cash when they come to pickup the trailer.

I had several of those "PayPal" people when selling my Airstream.
I recognized them right away. Ready to buy my "thing"
I did not respond to any of them.
I have heard of some that did and regretted it. They got taken.
Do not respond, do not even consider it, do not not not do it.

I would never sell my trailer via paypal..they have up to 120 day 9or more??) to come back and claim that it was an unauthorized transaction..etc, then it behoove upon you to prove that the airstream was in fact delivered etc..In the meanwhile, you are at the mercy of some unseen person at paypal to decide your case, etc..I would just say, you want my me in cash..and lets do this at a bank where I can see the money coming from the hands of a bank employee..

Please cease contact with this "purchaser".

Some of these scammers can steal your life's savings and put you in years of debt before you sit down to dinner tonight.

Tons of safe selling/buying advice on this forum. Read through all of it and you will better understand. It's a good read...

Best of Luck, and be patient. An honest buyer will eventually approach you in an appropriate way.

No one ever buys a trailer at full asking price without asking it's condition. Sorry, I think you've got a scammer on the line.
