Our most precarious site yet...

... we just got back from Cumberland Falls, Ky this weekend. the camp sites were, shall we say... "quaint"... oh she'll technically FIT a 24 footer, SOMEHOW. with the trade wind 2 feet off the road, our back end was hanging high and dry in mid-air! no stabilizers! needless to say, we slept light. good thing the toilet didn't work. ha!

anyone else set up in a less-than-desireable spot like this?

A less-than-desireable spot like this? No way - our toilet works.

Did you guys sleep in the front of the trailer? Good thing your rig doesn't suffer the dreaded tail sag.

Smile A cantilevered Airstream!!

Talk about finding out the hard way, glad nothing bad happened...

It is a lovely place, Cumberland Falls, but I guess you have definitively answered my consideration of the campground. We had stopped at the main resort part near the falls a few years back but never looked at the campground itself. Saw a few reviews that said sites were tight, but holy Toledo!! Too bad they can't improve or enlarge sites somewhere else, I wonder if that Dupont Lodge really brings in all that much revenue? Maybe they could put in a better campground ...

I'm pretty sure I would have drug the picnic table over and jammed it up in under the bumper somehow! But good thing you don't have a rear-door rig...

the RV weren't-a-rockin THAT night! haha! this is a perfect example of why i HATE reserving spots on the internet. the falls were great, the hikes were awesome, but the campsites... well... let's put it this way, the guy across the street from us filled his spot with a goldwing motorcycle POP-UP trailer!

privacy, not EVEN an option... definitely one of those capsites you stop in, and get out first thing, or use it as a base for seeing everything BUT the campsite. oh well... lesson learned. at least the place was empty. just us and a few pop-ups at the end.

here's another pic from the front.

The last time I saw a trailer hangin' in the wind like that, I was watching "The Long Long Trailer".

Well, I guess there was a lovely view from the rear window, if you dared to go back there!

More than once we had to park our Coleman pop-up like that. We had to keep it attached to the car so it wouldn't tip when we used the rear bed. Not fun.

I think I'd have pulled forward (not a time to make a mistake and hit reverse!) amd parked it right on the edge of the road and set my emergency brake, hard. Or left to find some other campgroud, maybe a Walmart! I feel sick just looking at that photo! ~G

Holy Cow.....That's nuts!!!! I could never have slept there....

I have a funny story.... We were camping up in NH about a month ago and we were on a slight bank....nothing like that....well I woke up in the middle of the night and I could swear we were rolling down the hill! It took me what seemed like forever to get my heart rate to calm down...No heights for me!

Not me, I would not park my trailer like that. I noticed that the streetside wheel is not chocked either

On the other hand, who is afraid to walk in the back of their camper when it is disconect but not stabilized? I do it all the time. Strikes me a psychological issue more than anything.
