On The Road Again -- Music Channel I

I remember Woodstock, but I know I wasn’t there. The mid 60’s I remember all too well. I lived it. They were by no means ‘the good old days’ either. I didn’t have to play the YouTube video to hear that song again in my head!

I was a charter member of the Gulf of Tonkin Yacht Club from 1967 to 1976. I have the paperwork to prove it as well. Glad that’s far behind me. Crazy times, especially in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Did you know that Mark Knopfler asked Vince to join Dire Straits?

Chet Atkins calls in at 1:30.

"Oklahoma Borderline" at 3:00.

Yee Ha!

PS -- Co-written with Rodney Crowell and Guy Clark, of all people!

Great OTRA beat on this amazing jam with Vince, Eric Clapton, Keith Urban, Keith Richards, & Albert Lee!

Hear those concrete highway expansion joints clickin' on by?

The lyrics of this classic sure fit the times.

"Lately it occurs to me
What a long strange trip it's been"

Hope everyone is doing OK with the virus.

Peter

They say Altamont and the Manson murders were the two events that killed the '60s.

That is kind of a bummer IMO, could we please focus on road/good beat music per the original post here?

Bummer indeed. That isn't the link I meant to post, and now I can't delete.

Could the mods please delete the link? The comment can stay.
Thanks.

Thank you for the clarification, FaN. No need for the mods to do anything, they are pretty busy with virus issues.

Happy and Healthy Trails!

No problem.

I received a wonderful private message from another forum member who lived in the SF Bay area during the 1960s. He would have been at Altamont - but he had to work that weekend.

He said the big venue music scene in the Bay area was never the same after Altamont. His observation was very profound and far reaching. Society was never the same after the 1960s.

Ultimately....I think the best songs give us something to listen to --
and think about.

Check out the Jackson Browne film I just linked here:

https://www.airforums.com/forums/f42...is-129121.html

Great live footage and interviews from the 60’s etc..

Bob also just posted a great Gordon Lightfoot tune.

Great one thanks!

There are also some nice slower JP songs on the OTRA II thread, starting with Bob Cross's recent Post #407, and "Summer's End" . . . a real tear-jerker.
