In the deli this morning, they were playing Dire Straights' Sultans of Swing, and I figured a reference to the earlier Post #40 would cover a re-play here, but that YouTube version has been taken down. Here it is again -- another live version -- great beat and song for the road!

PS -- Here is another live version -- remove center of URL:

PS2 -- best guitar solo of all time?

Peter, always a great pic. I was going to comment on if he was old enough to shave yet, then it dawned on me, I better revisit the #40 and my reply #48. Yep, not old enough to shave but good enough to received the heaped on praise from EC.

I had heard that he was sick but still surprised when his death was announced.

Eat a Peach & Live at Fillmore East was my gas on the long drive between the bay area and San Diego for college.

It still has priority seating for my TV's CD pack & Walkman playlist. Mighty fine road music.

Southern power rock at it's best.

RIP Gregg Allman

Thanks Bob.

Great long version of Mountain Jam on side two of the first record, including Donovan Leitch, Duane Allman, Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, Jai Johanny Johanson. [16:30]

Rest in Peace.

One of my favorite old album is Taj Mahal double

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_..._Folks_at_Home

This tune got my road trip blood flowing

Thanks. A great album and Six Days On the Road has to be in the top ten road songs! I am pretty sure that album is in a box in our storage unit.

FYI Bob that Neil Sedaka song popped up on iTunes this morning, and it is growing on me, especially with Chet Atkins backing up. How is your pooch doing and did the dealer fix the furnace? Sail switch? Guessing your garden is looking good, assuming you have been getting more sun than in the Spring.

Our new bench seat is finally here, and will be installed next week, so hopefully a local overnight trip is in the works for June, although GS #5 is due any day now . . .

Cheers,

Peter

PS -- Might have to head down to Statesboro, Georgia soon . . .

Peter, do you mean Neil Diamond (on Tennessee Moon album)? I‘m glad it’s working for ya. We love it and often queue it up on departure days. Love the Chet support too. Kinda ties in with the Knophler/Atkins Neck and Neck effort….often next in the queue.

Rooney’s release date is 2 weeks from this Monday. Strict Rx still in effect: no run no jump no play…no fun! She was ready to roll two weeks ago. Even with the sedatives she always has to be within line of sight or leashed up. As such we’re here for a while, but chomping at the bit to get some road time in.

WooHoo on the TV’s seat. It sounds like it is all coming together. Start making that packing list and playlist! Congrats on the new GC too. You’re a lucky man.

Thanks for the link. It is a great combo....enjoy the drive South

Blue is still in with the dealer. I had a small nickel dime workmanship punch list that also included the furn and tank sensors. The strategy was…here is the list, I’m not in a hurry and feel all should be warranted with the understanding that the sensors may never be right (like everyone else on forums) but expecting an honest effort. However they jumped on it and all is done except the sensors which took some negotiating with JC then some tech time with the Mf. Sounds like they may be replacing them. I don’t have my wire size answer or specifically what happened with the furnace (limit switch which I think is the sail switch...1 flash/3 sec = limit switch/airflow problems) but will discuss at pick up and post.

Hope you can make it to HH's soon.

Be well.

Whoops, another senior moment on the East coast, I guess. Thanks for the correction (yes, Neil Diamond and Blue Highway) and for the updates from your coast. Hope Rooney can be patient, and that your AS comes back ready to hit the road.

Patience all around . . . on both coasts!

Have a good weekend.

I hate the term been there done that but, we've all been there.

BTW, frst thought was what great fit for Taj

reading the comments while listening to the tune I noticed "This is a reeally great live rendition of a great song I first heard on Taj Mahal's first album, made famous by the Allman Bro.s"

Interesting. I had not heard that and presumed that is was all AB Band.

Thanks!

This Marshall Crenshaw tune just popped up on the mix. Great beat road song kinda!

Yes Bob, interesting that the song was on Taj's first album.

Peter thanks. Crenshaw's new to me, but based on the u-tube comments, I missed the boat. Great voice but a little to pop'ish for me.

The Taj Mahal connection to Statesboro Blues was a surprise. I haven’t listened to the vinyl of Taj’s double album since the conversion to digital disc, so went downstairs to the real stereo and album archives. I was surprised that when I found it, it was with Taj’s 1st with Statesboro Blue. In the digital age, it is easy to go with the convenience and forget just how much better the vinyl sounds. Reminder to self.

Great photo, thanks!

I can almost smell the musty jackets and record sleeves . . .

. . . as you carefully remove the record, holding it one-handed by its edge and center, semi-vertical, and put it on the turntable . . . with both hands . . .

Thanks Bob, what a talent! How about her Train Kept a Rollin' rockabilly number?

See the wheat fields flying by, and hear the concrete expansion joints clickin' under the rig?

Flyin' on the road again !!!

Have a good weekend.

Peter
