NOSE ART for the AirStream

I was wondering why "nose art" hasn't caught on with the Airstreams. Owners old enough to remember or those who know their Army Air Corps history will know about nose art on aircraft (sadly not really allowed anymore with our current military). I've included a couple examples. Looks like Betty Boop crashed but it demonstrates that the art was frequently playful. Any thoughts?

There are a number of examples of images and trip lists painted on Airstreams of old in some of the historical books available at Jackson Center and elsewhere. You're right, though, that current 'streamers don't seem to add too much to their rigs. You see some decals, usually on widows, like our AIR sticker. A few of the members here have carefully placed images - the Silver Olive comes to mind.

Go to your local graphics company and have it printed on 3m bus wrap film

Should go in the AS tattoo business

I want to bag a Prevost. I guess I'll have to bring the chain saw to cut it up.

Actually, I am in the process of building something with this theme right now. I Hope to start posting some pictures in the next few weeks. the old blue stripes are gone and the carbon fiber inserts are in. It is coming along nicely!

This is nose art on a '76'

This is the nose art on many military aircraft after 911. I placed it on three areas of my Airstream. The art work was created by an Airman after the crash of flight 93. Working on C-130's for years no nose art was allowed. We spent many manhours putting beautiful nose art on the side of our eight aircraft but during an inspection were told to paint over them. A few years later after 911 the new design was authorized. Go figure

I airbrush alot, and I use an new adhesion promoter called Bulldog that you get from AUTOZONE or simular car/auto supply stores. Can use it on just about any surface. Let me see if I can find a picture...Remember Aluminum is slick so there has to be something between it (your nose art area) and the art work. Hey, if any of you streamers want any form of art on your airstream home just get in touch with me...check out my links below. Bill

Wow, that looks amazingly like the view out of the nose of a B-29.
