I have seen this one before.
DO NOT follow the link in the email to get to paypal, it is a fake. They will ask you to log into paypal and your account will be theirs. If you want to verify that the charges were not made to your account, go directly to Paypal at www.paypal.com and then check it out.

I have gotten several Paypal scam emails, and a whole bunch of Ebay ones. I forward all of them to spoof@ebay.com. They will answer back with a couple of hours tell ing you that this was a spoof. Doing this allows them to try to track down the culprits.

....or Forward the link (cut and paste) to spoof@paypal.com or spoof@ebay.com. They will send you a reply to the validity which is always a scam. Paypal and ebay encourage you to report these seemingly false links so they can try and track these people down. After years of forwarding this stuff I have given up the forwarding and just delete them. Years ago, when I was naive to this, I got a similar message right when I was bidding on something. I thought it was legit and entered the information they asked for BUT a gut feeling told me to give slightly false IDs and such. After some thought I contacted ebay/paypal and even though I had falsified my info they recommended a credit check and a freeze on any credit applications without my approval. They did this for me for a year FREE. It was only a little inconvenient but all the credit card hype in my mail stopped. That was cool.

I've received Paypal and Ebay scam emails in my email address that is not associated with those accounts. I have separate email address for those accounts that I use.

Not a new scam, an old scam. Never reply to any email like this for any account. Log on to your account directly from your book mark or typing it in your browser.

I don't know about you PC users, but Safari on my Mac show the link address by hovering over it. You will see that the supposed link in the email goes somewhere else.

If you have already clicked on the link, you may want to consider changing your password. We were scammed that way also.

scam. do not click on the link. if a chage has occured check with your credit card or bank. on reason to never have a bank account as a primary source of funding on paypal. They want it that way but it should never be.

I received an email to one of my email accounts that asked me to verify some info (al the things they needto steel my identity) at my Bank of America account. I do not have a Bank of America account. One reason I deal with small lessor known banks. No respectable bank will ever send you an email and ask to verify info.

Definitely not a new scam.

1) Did you buy a Samsung D600?
2) Have you ever received an email from Paypal to "confirm" any of your purchases you did make?
3) Search ebay for that item number - it doesn't exist (too short also)

A different scam

I received an email about a trailer I have for sale in the Airforums classified and wanted to let others know about it. This person is, of course, out of the country and buying the trailer for an uncle and is to be shipped. They will pay all costs, including shipping, up front, then I am to pay the shipper.

Just wanted to let folks here know that they are hitting the Airforums site in case they are going down the line in the classifieds. Be careful out there!

Got a similiar e-mail couple months ago for some software I never bought. Called Pay Pal and the credit card comapny and confirmed there wasn't any charge...and delted the e-mail. No problem...just don't do what the e-mail says to do...delete it and verify no charges.

I too have received this type of scam mail at least half a dozen times. FreshAir gives very sound advice. If I have any question about a e-mail, I first off don't open it, and secondly it always goes to their spoof site. They are very good at giving you a scam or no scam reply. In their mailing to you they should address you as Mr. Kerfoot or Mr. Bill Kerfoot. The "Dear Paypal Member" is the sure give away. Paypal and Ebay will always address their mail to you by your name. I had a neighbor a year ago that got scammed this way and it was truly a mess. Took weeks to get things squared away. Just my 2 cents worth.

What I received was not with paypal or ebay, they saw the ad here on the forums. Just wanted to alert everyone in case they are going through our classifieds.

One of my clients (they do not own an Airstream, but dream of it) was sent an email stating that they had won an Airstream from ebay and all they needed to do was pay for the shipping from North Carolina. The unit was described as a 2003 Safari and the shipping costs were $750. They contacted ebay to find it was a scam.

Last night I posted two items to CL and this morning I had replys for both ads in my mailbox! Wow what luck! And from the same person too - what a coincidence, since they were very different objects:
