Sometimes the name has meaning, maybe an Epiphany, or a random experience. It may change as you get to know, it? I just drug mine home today and have yet to name it. I've always said "you know, one of those silver bullet trailers". But that isn't very original. Silver bullet. Sb? More like BS, ha ha. More like the wreck, wasps hive, busted. I think it will morph into its final name over the next year or two. For now it will be named bones, cause it has good bones. Silver bones perhaps. Cheers. Back to my tequila.

we named ours "Lindy" after Charles Lindbergh.
Hawley Bowlus was the chief designer of the Spirit of St. Louis and later
the designer of the early Airstreams.
The 'aircraft' influence is certainly visible in the early Airstreams and somewhat in the current ones.
besides:
- if you don't name your AS how will it know when you are talking to it?
- we talk to Lindy all the time since we want to make sure he's still
following us.

50kip
My 2009 19' International CCD Airstream is named 50KIP, which was the call sign for a Douglas C-47 built during WWII and subsequently owned by Continental Air Service Inc. and had the tail number of N650K. It is pictured as my avatar when it was owned in the mid-1970s by Sahakol Air of Thailand. 50KIP carried me every couple of weeks to and from my home in Bangkok, usually with both engines running, to the "front" on the Laos border during the war of the time. It was a faithful means of transportation. My Airstream with all of its aluminum and rivets, aircraft-like doors and windows reminds me of these old airplanes, most of which have been recycled (into Airstreams?) or are now hanging in museums.

Prior to getting into RVing, we had owned a couple of houseboats and we had named the last one 'Maybe Later'. The name just seems to fit with the lifestyle. I kept the wooden sign and now display it in the window of our AS.

I tend to name things so of course our AS had to have one. I've wanted an AS since I was a kid and think of her as the rockstar of the campground and she ended up as Stella ( short for Estella which means star)!

My wife named ours "Instead" since we use it instead of a hotel. She is also fond of saying we're going to XXX instead of Australia, England, or fill in the blank. On other days, she'll say, "I named it Instead because we use it instead of doing most any other thing we could do." She also named our TV "Seemore."
When I was young and single, my first outing to the beach in a new project trailer became a monsoon weekend in a leaky can. That rebuilt carcass became known as "NautiLady" once beautified.

To Name or Not To Name???
I guess that it all depends on how you want to interact with your trailer. Like most mechanical things, they will develop their own personality over time. Some of my things have really boring names and some have personal names. Then again, somethings I just don't bother naming...
Happy Christmas,
