Question KOA Value Kard

Does anybody know if the KOA Value Kard associated with KOA Kampgrounds is worth the $24.00 annual fee?

KOA cont.

nashvilleguy,

My wife and I believe it is worth it. We used KOA from WA ST to the AS International this past month and it saved us a bundle. ALL the KOAs were very good to excellent. The accomodations and service were A+. We especially liked the one in Hardin, MT. It was carved out of a wheat field on top of the Continental Divide, a very neat place to visit. jjustice

We like KOA, also. The card makes checking in so easy. The fact that my wife's uncle owns the KOA in Flagstaff and is generous when we stay there is a plus.

Depends on how much you use the KOA's. I have had one in the past and at the time I was living between 3 KOA's in different areas of the country. It certainly paid for itself at that time.

Hard to know. A lot of places also honor AAA as well as AARP and others for the same percentage off.

In our travels, we find select KOAs to be convenient for an overnighter en route so we keep the card updated. Now and again we get a free night. We consider it a worthwhile expense.

East Denver KOA in the Snow

I have enjoyed them in the past and even have used Kozy Kabins when we have traveled without the camper. I have not had the privilege of using them yet with the AS as we just purchased it last week. We did use them with our pop-up and I even full timed at a KOA in Strasburg, CO for 7 months including one of the snowiest winters of record starting on December 19, 2006. The owners have for the most part been very courteous and helpful. I will attach a couple of pictures to show what I enjoyed in the experience. I was there working and after it cleared up some the kids and wife drove back to Atlanta leaving me to work and freeze, spring was not soon enough.
Pictures:
The first one you can see the KOA flag flying.
8am there was no snow on the ground 5pm it looked like this.
Kids after we dug out. Bad news was a storm followed this one. Those that live in Denver will remember the snow that winter.

We frequent KOA's and have earned some free nights over the past three years.

I've had other campgrounds offer a discount if I showed them a KOA card! Of course the Good Sam card will be honored most other places too.

I'd say if you use campgrounds for 2-3 weeks a year it pays for itself.

I fulltime so it's a no-brainer for me.

I've had one for the past five/six years. If you use it, it is worth the money. If you don't it isn't. In '09 a six week trip from Las Vegas to Cape Hatteras, NC we used many KOA's and received some free nights parking.

The family and I think it is very much worth it...we stayed at many KOA's on our way to and from Yellowstone this summer and got our money's worth...all the KOA's we stayed at were clean, very easy to get in and out of, and the people were very friendly!

I have also found that using the card expedites the check-in process, which can sometimes become agonizingly inefficient at other RV parks.

My recollection (not always accurate) is that the card gives you a 10% discount - how I read this is - if you use KOA 10 nights a year you get out of the red and into the black.

In truth - we rarely use KOA 10 nights every year - close - but not too many cigars - however, we renew it, usually at a KOA counter, mainly to deflect the irritatingly repetitive barrage of questions at every KOA - "do you know your card is expired? - would you like to renew?" .....

Gotta Love Camping ....

We've had the KOA Card for several years, and have used it often. It has been worth the cost for us. We also like the express reservations and check in with the card.
