Kind of an Air-stream

I just saw a news segment on TV about this guy that is refurbishing old jet liners and selling them as homes. They are mounted on a giant pedestal. The plane can rotate on the pedestal to change your view. Wings can be used as a deck. Pretty cool. The few interior shots of the guys retrofitting the airplane reminded me... strangely enough... of the Airstream. The one downside is that you can't travel in it.

The website isn't too good, but there are a few pics.

Can you imagine being in a windstorm and being home at the same time.... in that thing -it could be an uplifting experience - all puns intended.

There's a guy here in Portland, OR who has a 727 he recycled into a home. I remember seeing it in the news when they had to move it from the airport to the property he was putting it on (wings removed, of course). I've always wondered how that worked out for him. Personally, after living in a 14' X 60' mobile home for a few years, the effect of living in a long hallway was pretty annoying after a while.

Then again, those photos on the website look pretty digitally manipulated to me. I wonder if they have actually done this even once. I think I'll take it with a grain of salt for now. I didn't believe the amphibious-RV story either until I saw it in a few different places.
