Looks kinda like son-of-LEM -- used for all the Apollo landings.
Cool though. I like it.
We once rented a remodeled lake cabin from a Honeywell engineer who said he designed the remodel on his computer at work. I'd say the 'Cricket' turned out a lot better!
It looks like it has already been in a wreck, with some really crappy body work done.

Do you know what a learning experience is? A learning experience is one of those things that says "You know that thing that you just did? Don't do that."
I like the idea of pushing function over form to see what is possible. I think I was predisposed seeing the NASA engineer angle to think there was some element of innovation beyond the idea of: Lets see just how small of a space we can get you to function within.
There is an issue of Dwell magazine that had an article about a Japanese designer who took a mid-size Airstream and redesigned the interior to be empty other than a coffin like enclosure in the center which performed multiple functions. Ill see if I can find it.
The Cricket is interesting in that it is designed first and foremost for efficiency. With everything open, you could stand inside to get dressed - something you couldn't do in a teardrop. I'm claustrophobic, and could never sleep in a teardrop, but could do this. It's 1300# dry - quite commendable.
