"Morning Train"

Oh Boy Records continues to post new [old] tunes on their Y/T channel . . . this is so great for keeping John's music alive!

Paul Anderson of WERU in Maine played this number at the end of his Bronzewound show tonight, which "wound up" [ . . . . . . ] with a John Prine theme.

"Summer's End" -- John Prine

And a wonderful 45-minute "House of Strombo" home concert here:

"Summer's End" -- with a nice lead-in story by John -- starts at time stamp 26:00 here:

https://youtu.be/w5Rkm_dqm7A?t=1547

Followed by a great live cover of "Ramblin' Fever" at 30:00 or so!

Thanks again Bob for that Citizen Abels post. I am about 1/2 through . . . really enjoying their mutual states of comfort and relaxation IMO.

I am reminded of your Post #96 entitled "Here's John sitting in our kitchen."

Yup . . . a reassuring feeling of comfort in both places.

That is the first long video I have watched like this . . . Full Screen . . . sitting off to the side, as I did other things around the room . . . like having the TV on a talk show as you move about the house.

This allowed their conversation to set the tone and content . . . and was thoroughly enjoyable . . . the songs just kind of wandered in and out of the larger theme of "we are really enjoying talking to each other" . . .

Thanks again Bob.

This one-hour set may be a repeat here? The set list is in the YouTube notes.

Priceless!

"Hello in There" -- a new live version?

"Oh Boy Records" keeps posting great old live performances from John . . . at least I think this one is not a repeat here?

No matter . . . great IMO.

"Hello in There" --

Another fairly recent live recording . . . amazing how John's phrasing etc. seem so real and present in each one . . . yet so genuine and unique IMO.

"I Drink" -- Mary Gauthier

This just played on WERU out of Blue Hill, Maine, and I thought . . . "now here is a John Prine tune I have never heard!"

Great simply lyrics . . . fooled me!

Have a good day.

His music is still with us thankfully, and now seems like an appropriate time for him to have his own thread here.

The following interview is a good introduction to the man and how he got started IMO:

Rest in Peace.

And now we are coming up on the 2nd year, since John left us on April 7, 2020.

How time flies.

John's family continues to post new videos of old performances, and is active in charity work in Nashville, and elsewhere. Interesting article here about the making of his last album "The Tree of Forgiveness" IMO:

Hope all is well.

The 'old' has also been visiting here over the Winter. We are hoping Spring will help. The VA hasn't been at it's best during the pandemic...we'll see, time is the variable here.

I stop in here once in awhile, this & couple other threads are worth checking. Haven't felt the need to wiggle on the keyboard as most all that's coming around on today's threads has been rendered moot previously.
