m.hony....awesome man....see you then...I will arrive at the dealer at least by 10am to look it over and finish the deal...paperwork...all that...this on 11/1...i was told by foley just this week that the 11/1 pickup date is very likely...he had much confidence....but the other lady there previously had expressed some concern about delivery delays out of ohio....we shall see...will be good to meet you in person!

TCA and GPO - our first trip is not yet planned exactly...we had planned on having family up on thanksgiving...that is now not happening and we are going to use that 4 day weekend to now go on our first trip....we *think* that we are going to drive to ATL and camp at "stone mountain"...they will have christmas lights up and have other activities there...there is a rally there the week after that and my wife works that weekend

We may opt to stay more close to home, but that is only a 2-3 hour drive...so we are still considering...plus we have not made that reservation...not sure if it will be very full for such a weekend?? I assume not but honestly no real idea.

It is a 5 hour ride for us. We could arrive between 11 and 1 depending on what time we leave the house. I am looking forward to it.

We knew this was perfectly likely but were given a whiff of false hope last week by the dealer

The little longer wait will just make it all the better , I got mine 6 days ago and so far love it , staying in napa valley California for a week for the first check out test ride , only trouble I'm having is the radio and tv system , I"m old school and it will take me a bit to figure it out , no cable in this campground

Well I'll be! I guess we will see you at Canopener, then.
Is this a sign that Airstream is overwhelmed with production orders and the company is building more and more trailers?
Or is it a sign that they are slow and disorganized and cannot keep their commitments?

Depends on who you ask?

I'm not as concerned about exact timing - hopefully it holds up without too many QC issues - time will tell

Our 2013 25FB International Serenity was built from 19 to 28 June 2012 in over 9 elapsed calendar days, so two days were a weekend. Our new 2014 Classic 30 will be built from 9 to 15 January with a weekend as well. The labor force has been increased by recalling former employees and I do not know if they work Saturdays.

They are cranking them as fast as possible and I hope to catch any issues wihile there during the build process.

We were there a week ago, they have a 1100 trailer backlog, building 51 a week. The assembly facility is full, looks like some daily overtime, a handful of people around on Saturday. Don Ambos, the tour guide, says they are hiring but not easy finding employees. I didn't have the impression anything is being rushed or compromised, the operation as a whole quite reassuring.

The Service Center is also backlogged a few weeks, but will take care of everything you need or they find while there. They brought in a few people to finish our trailer and others a half day last Saturday. Really a good operation for the customer. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.

WOW. I'm impressed by those numbers. 51 new cans a week rolling down the highways!

Could be.

I have some news for those that do not know. We have an Airstream Dealer opening in Fort Myers in a few months. North Trail RV right on the highway I-75. So if you have needs of the dealer type in the south of Florida, they are the farthest down thar! They already are listed on the Airstream dealers list.

Seems like at 2500 trailers per year we would see more Airstreams as we travel.

That would be about 50 per state. I could not imagine that 50 people in MS would by an Airstream...

But many more than that per Airstream dealer since there aren't dealers in all 50 states.

And that's only the trailers. What about the Interstate RVs?

Maybe 75-100 per dealer. A lot of the states don't have dealers.
There is one dealer in MS.
I said earlier I can't imagine 50 people in MS buying Airstreams, but maybe 75 people in MS, LA, and AL.
Somebody's' buying' all them trailers.
I am only aware of 2 in Leflore County, but there are 82 counties in MS...

Nope. They quit making them after 2012.

I always liked the Avenue. I guess the Sprinter van is bigger- more flexibility in floor plans/room- and it is only slightly more expensive- and probably gets better mileage.

Why in the world do you have to wait 2 weeks?
It shouldn't take 2 weeks to prep the trailer for delivery.
Anyhow- I am stopping by Foley tomorrow.
I will see your new trailer before you do.
Maybe I will take pictures of your new trailer and post them.
