Harrisonburg VA Campgrounds

I'll be going to Harrisonburg for a few days, then on to Ohio. Can anyone recommend a good campground in or near Harrisonburg?

Page and I are going to camp at Big Meadows (in Shenandoah NP) from Sunday 4/17 and leave Wed 4/20. Tha's not far from the Rt 33 crossing of the park (which goes on through H'burg.) We'd be glad to see you if your trip plans permit.

I'm planning on spending April 23, 24 and possibly the 25th in Harrisonburg. After that I'm heading to Ohio. What kind of hookups, etc. do you have at the national park?

Hi Paula,

I think that the Shenandoah NP doesn't have any hookups. We stayed at Loft Mountain last Memorial Day and it was all Boondocking.
There is a KOA in Harrisonburg that has hook-ups. Heavenly Acres Campground is just north of Standardsville, which is east of the Blue Ridge off Rt. 33. They have full hook-ups. Swift Run Campground is east of Elkton, as you come down off the mountain on the south side of Rt. 33. They have full hook-ups as well, but is not manned all the time.
