Happy B'day to my Airstream
How about a thread that tracks the build dates of our trailers and celebrates their 'Birthdays'?
Try to post within a week of the actual date and include where possible any history of your Airstream.
1977 International Ambassador, build date 11-16-76
I believe I'm the 5th owner. #1 was Mr. Joseph Sipe (According to the 8 track Registration paperwork), #2 Mr. Phil Maddox (WBCCI #'s and some coorespondence), #3 unknown person in Batesville MS, #4 Mrs. Madonna ???, Batesville, MS, then me!

Happy Birthday to the Birthday Girl.
Is "Bappy B'day" some kind of play on words or a typo? I was going to change it for you, but then I got to thinking that I may be missing something.

Our '66 Trade Wind was built in October, 1965. I'm not sure of the 'day' but it turned 43 years old just a few weeks ago. It is in good shape for that age....probably better shape than I am....but I have fairly new titanium hips. So I guess the Trade Wind is due for new axles.

That's a good way to look at it. . . we just took our '80 Caravelle to Jackson Center for an axle transplant. It will be in the hospital for a few weeks.
It would be interesting to know what that "date of manufacture" really means. It's a fact that an Airstream is "created" within a few hours. At the start of the production line a frame comes in the door, the under-floor wiring and plumbing are installed, the insulation, belly pan, and floor are put on, and the shell, which was being riveted over on the shell fixture while all that stuff was being done, is set in place and bolted down. If that's the date stamped on the nameplate, it would correspond to the date the "keel was laid" for a ship. The trailer isn't actually finished for several days later, so could be the date on the nameplate is the date it went out the door.
Anyway, happy birthday! (I don't use "b'day" because it sounds like a European bathroom fixture. )
Cheers,
Nuvi
