Hail Storm Just Blew Through

We just had about a 5 minute hail storm breeze through in south east PA!!! The hail ranged from pea to moth ball size!

This is the first hail storm we've had in a long long time.

It is a sickening feeling sitting inside waiting for it to blow over knowing there ain't a D#$%D this you can do about it

I just got in from inspecting my truck and Airstreams and am glad to report that as far as I can tell they have emerged unscathed.

I hope that this is the last hail storm for a long long time.

Carl, I was working inside of Anna when it hit. They were the size of grapes here. It lasted about five minutes and five minutes later the sun was shining bright. Today was a perfect spring day... t-shirt and shorts and 70 most of the day. The sound of hail on the shell was actually very nice and I never even thought damage might occur.

It was really nice here too until the storm rolled through. I actually got a lot of little stuff done on our '87 today. I wired the stereo for I-Pod and satellite radio, installed a 12V recepticle in the forward overhead to power said I-Pod and satellite radio. I had a leaky OPD valve replaced on one of tanks and was able to check it out and all of our propane appliances and everything is a GO, thank God. Hopefully there will be no surprises this year on our first outting. I also got all the cabinetry wiped down with lemon oil. Now we have to wait for the weekend of 04/17-19/2009 to get it out of the driveway and up yo Penn Wood. Then I can get the '06 out our orchard and get her ready fo the season. Too many Airstreams and too little time.

Carl,
Same storm came through here (S.E. NY)around 8pm and lasted 10 minutes with grape size hail. Wish I had my hat on. Ouch!

Eleven years ago my truck and airplane were destroyed by hail here in Minnesota. Since then I have tried to keep my toys indoors... although it can be difficult to find affordable indoor storage anywhere near a metro area.

Now my Airstream and replacement plane are sharing a hangar... I can relax during the spring storms!

Yet there have been times when we were driving across the great plains and thunderstorms popped up. One time we stopped at a gas station, with the trailer under the canopy, as a hail storm blew through... whew, close one!

Marcus,
Yeah I saw the thread you started about your hail encounter. How did your Overlander fare?

That hail stone is HUGE!!! I hope I never ever see anything that big that isn't a snow ball.

Dan,
I am seriously contemplating a pole barn with doors on both ends so I can drive straight through. All I have to do is save some money.

I am a VFR rated private pilot, but I rent as that is one toy my wife has planted her foot on FIRMLY. But each time we have to fly commericial I tell her, "do you realize we wouldn't have to put up with any of this if we had our own plane?" I think I am wearing her down.
