Goodbye to Our Camping Buddy

We lost Captain, one of our Goldens, to an esophageal stricture today. He was only 7 years old & we and his sister are heart broken. Camping will not be the same without all of our family. He was a great friend.

Sigh. We lost Chewy, our 7-year-old Pomeranian buddy last year to an autoimmune disease that just devastated him in a matter of days. He was a super camping buddy, and the family, and the rest of the doggie pack misses him..still.

Keep the memories and pictures...and our thoughts are with you.

Condolences. I always say that is the only bad thing about having a dog.

I lost Luke (my avatar) in August at nearly 16 years of age. I miss him every day.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

so sad

We have had 5 Goldens any d have walked the same path on four other occasions. It's never easy. It's not supposed to be easy. We have a great friend and member of our family in Eddie. He is a strong 12 year old Golden. So far so good but we all know what's on the horizon. It too will not be easy. It never is..... Pete.

No doubt when your pets pass, they're giving the ''Gate keeper'' the paws up about the owners. Sorry for your loss skitique. When ready, visit a shelter and give a pet a second chance in life. They will return the favor ten fold.

I am so very sorry that you lost your beloved pet. To me, there is nothing better than the love and devotion of a dog. They leave such a big hole in your heart when they pass but their love and their memories are still there. Please be good to yourself while you grieve.

So sorry for your loss, been down this road 1/2 dozen times w/Golden's. Never gets easier for me. Our current two Golden's, brother and sister will be 13 in April. Joey is still ever the athlete, Belle has so much Arthritis she can hardly walk, breaks my heart. Her spirit and soul are as good as ever. We just keep feeding her the drugs.

Be well

So sorry for your loss at an age when you must have thought that Captain was in the prime of life. I often think about the sentiments expressed in Rainbow Bridge, because we are together with our dogs for too short a time; in your case, even shorter than that. If it works out the other way with me, I hope there is a rainbow bridge where I can wait for Lupe.

So sorry. Such a young dog.

The people on Air Forums were so kind when I lost my beagle.

It's still difficult.
