for your safety

Do any of you have a smoke and/or carbon monoxide alarm as well as a burgular alarm installed in your AS?

We have a smoke alarm, and Cookie, our watchdog/burglar alarm.

Hi Overlander63,

That's the first new thing on my list of things to get for sure! (smoke alarm, that is)

We already have Cody, our watchdog..

So, do you think I should put the alarm up right near our bed, or the door?..with 22 ft..so many choices, right?..and drill a little hole through the ceiling?

As much as we all hate to drill a hole in our A.S., this is the one time we should consider it. I have seen the aftermath when people haven't had them.
If you can't make yourself drill a hole, you may consider another method of attachment such as Velcro/2-sided tape. The detector will sound long before the heat would melt it off the ceiling. Also, check/replace the batteries at every time change, it's cheap life insurance!

AC required IMHO.

We don't even say Y'all in AZ either...somehow it just sounded right

Another thought is a side mount to a cabinet an option?

I guess if you can't change time, you are trapped in Arizona. They are also a couple of counties in Indiana that you can go, where they don't change time.

According to Wikipedia:

Arizona does not observe DST (however, the large Navajo Indian Reservation, which extends from Arizona into two adjacent states, does). This is in large part due to energy conservation since the temperature in and around Phoenix and Tucson is hotter than any other large U.S. metropolitan area during the summer, resulting in more power usage from air conditioning units and swamp coolers in homes and businesses. An extra hour of sunlight while people are active would cause people to run their cooling systems longer, thereby using more energy.

For the last several decades, most of Indiana did not observe Daylight Saving Time, but the entire state started to do so in April 2006.

The following United States of America territories do not follow DST: American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands

Apologize for the digression on this thread...but interesting point or to some it may be weird, but when I travel for pleasure I never wear a watch. I'm not saying I don't know what time it is and that I miss appointments or airplanes or whatever. Just found that it helps one escape the constant buzz and grind of work and schedules and all that stuff... it makes you rely on your bio clock... you know… wake when you’re no longer tired...eat when you’re hungry... sleep when you’re tired again...this is sounding like a song ....NO Shoes... No Shirt....in this case No clock.....No problem....

Ok now back to the regularly schedule program...

Hi Azstramin,

Funny coincidence, I have not worn a watch since, hmm, can't say I ever did outside of high school eons ago..I've never been late for anything..not to say I don't check w/the clocks on walls, in the car, etc..guess I've always had a good internal clock of sorts..

Our smoke detector is mounted centered on the ceiling, between the beds. Mount it away from the stove, if possible, to avoid the "dinner is ready" alarm.

There are newer model smoke/fire detection devices that have a "pause" or "ignore" button that takes care of situations where the stove might set off the alarm but where the user knows that this is not a hazard. Look for one of these. They are standard on the current Airstreams.

I thought that noise was the dinner bell.

Also, I knew when I posted about the time change one of the AZ "rebels" would respond....right on que.

As for security, I rely on Mr. Glock.

As for security, Mr. Glock takes care of that.
