Jim-

I think this is real. I have never seen the bridge from this view only from the top but it sure looks to me to be the final bridge completed not too long ago for the Blue Ridge Mt. Parkway! The project started in the 1940's. If anyone else can help out here it would be great!

Have you traveled that one? Did it bother you if so? My daughter cringes going over just a bridge over a creek and yet as a teenager she loved the extreme roller coasters. Go figure.

Neil.
Go figure. I flew F-14 for the NAVY, landed on AC's in the middle of the night during storms and when I got to the bridge I actually waited till dark to cross so I couldn't see down!

I believe the above photo shows distortion, either from fisheye lens or inaccuracies of digital stitching used. Here is the same relatively straight bridge seen from satellite (Viaduc de Millau in the south of France):

Now ... take a look at the next photo of the same bridge if you really want to worry. It reminds me of the old kids movie where you climb the stairs, open a door and step out into open space ...

Put some helium in your Airstream first.

No, bridges don't bother me. Imagine being the "lucky" wrecker driver that pulled this car back from the brink: (left front tire was about a foot from the edge)

C-man, I just ran across this link with more photos of this bridge. Interesting seeing the temporary piers still in place from construction. Sure is purdy!

I watched a show on them building that amazing bridge. Was really impressive how they used hydrallic jackets to inch each section over to the the next tower.

I definately would NOT ever be found crossing that bridge. Even the smaller ones bug me

I like the photo of the bridge above the clouds. Reminds me of the old movies where the guy dies and walks up the stairs and keeps walking up until he reaches heaven. Of course, he usually had wings on his back in case he missed a step!

I think that would be the photoshopped bridge with two views stitched together.
