coming to amerika

I am planning a holliday to the USA most likely late this year or early next year.
The main goal for me is vintage car junk jards and picking up parts for my 1957 Imperial.
I think that I will rent a wreck and travel around.
Also I would like to meet some airstream nuts and am hoping for some invitations to spend the night.
I rather spend my money on carparts that on motels.
I also like to invite members from this list who come to the netherlands for holydays for a beer a meal and a night or two .
I have traveled a lot around the world and its always mutch nicher to
meet the locals than just go to the main tourist atractions and to stay in the main tourist resorts.

Sounds like a great trip. Do you have any idea where you will land and which direction you will go? Plan ahead on the junkyard hunting, a 57 Imperial is going to be a rare find in any junkyard these days!

Rivet Hemmings needed ...

remcolent,

You need to go to: http://www.hemmings.com/

Buy a copy of Hemmings Motor News today. Study it & source some parts before you come. When you arrive in the States, go to a major book store and buy the most recent copy. You will find this invaluable.

You can also buy a pre-paid cellular phone here to use while you travel. These are basically inexpensive and you can just 'toss it' when you leave.

I've restored & owned over 75 vintage vehicles over the years and the Hemmings has been a great source. Now, with the internet, you probably could find the national and regional Imperial clubs around the Country. You could get in contact via email to each and have them looking for you prior to your arrival.

Feel free to call or email if I can help ... the website & contact information is in in my profile.

Pretty cool. I always wanted to go there.

If you ever get to North America stop by the United States. Lot of us Airstreamers here.
