Camping in Alabama

Hey we are looking for a spot in north Alabama to camp for the night. We are thinking about Joe Wheeler State Park. Anyone have any suggestions?

Cloudland Canyon is awesome, although I think it is technically in Georgia, but it is right on the line and really gorgeous.

Point Mallard Park in Decatur Alabama is a nice overnight stay off of I-65 in north Alabama. It is city park that is very well done.

It depends on what you like to do. If you like to hike in the mountains consider Desoto State Park. Monte Sano is another good one and is about 30 mins from where I live. We go there alot and there are lots of hiking trails and mountain biking trails. Desoto is near Little River Canyon National Park. If you like to sit in your trailer and watch TV on the satellite then any of them are fine. Joe Wheeler is on a lake and is in the rolling hills. The Space camp campground is just a place to camp. There is another place called Buck's Pocket that is in the mountains.
