But, but officer...

... I read online that payload numbers don’t really mean anything!

They'd have probably been OK if they'd been using a WDH.

"Officer, I can understand this doesn't look all safe or good. But, I think if you check the weight on each axle vs. the rating of that axle, I'm within the limitations since the manufacture builds them with a 20% fudge factor give or take a little"

OK I'll go first. Would of been ok with a pro-pride hitch. Nothing else matters.

A propride hitch and a BMW X5 would have been fine.

Hey, I’ve owned both of those... who’d a thunk?

I don't think there is a weight problem anywhere but now he is towing doubles so he needs a commercial license. Also he needs operating brakes on the rear tandems.

We're all assuming he was towing. What if he misunderstood "diesel pusher"?

Another head shaker... that IS only funny because no one died. Most of the time stuff like this is not "risky" behavior, it is oblivious behavior.

The headline should have read "Darwin Award Winner Thwarted by Mean Police Officer.

Thanks to the officer who saved the other drivers on the road from this idiot.

I followed thru a rural area earlier this year a filthy and rundown old pickup pulling a mud covered trailer wider than the pickup, that was loaded up with stuff...with no working tail lights on the trailer.

None, nada, zip.

I don't have a pic of this but several years ago some locals put a small home on a home made trailer/dollies and tried to pull a small house thru town.

Busted!

They had to take the house apart board by board and scrap from the side of the road.

I really wish I had that pic.

Sounds like one of those homemade "Tiny Houses" that are all the rage...

Not this time, they were trying to relocate a stick built house. It sat on a wide shoulder spot for days as they took it apart.

In a normal year (huh-what's that) we'll tow 15-20K miles and you get to see some interesting sights in those miles. It's pretty amazing what some people will pull down an Interstate.

I believe in dash cams and should actually save some of the clips.

I’ve been thinking of a dash cam. Now I’m going shopping for one.
