Bath Towels: Microfiber, Cotton, Other?

Danielle and I want to find some towels - bath, hand and washcloth - that are more compact, more absorbant and dry more quickly than conventional cotton towels.

We're already using relatively small, lightweight cotton towels but our main complaint is they don't dry quickly between uses. We hang them in the Airstream but the next time we take a shower our bath towel might still be damp.

I found lots of posts regarding microfiber for cleaning and polishing for both interior and exterior applications but didn't find anything for bath/shower use.

Does anyone use microfiber bath/sower towels? Any other ideas? Which brand(s) are good/bad?

Thanks, Lucius

For us it's 100% camping towels from REI. I think they're called "multi-towels" and come in various sizes. The XL size which I use is more than enough, we carry a couple of sets. They dry faster than you can imagine, pack down to almost nothing and don't start smelling ripe for days.

TOTALLY AGREE with xo1rider! We use REI multi-towels as well. I didn't think that they would work well, but they do. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised and hopefully dry!

Ditto, I would use them at home but my bride disagrees...

There are various camp-towels that use micro-fibre... they do pack small, you can squeeze a lot of water out of them, and they dry fairly quickly. I don't like the feel of them at all... they tend to grab every bit of rough skin a guy has and have no fluffiness to them. Even the XL ones tend to feel small...

We have been using Aquis brand microfibre towels for about 8 years now, first on the boat and now in our Airstream. We like them so much they are working their way into our home...

That is my situation exactly! I absolutely love the microfiber but she isn't embracing them for home use. ;(
