I'd be quicker to donate my C note to the Forums before...... At least I'd know it was going to a good cause.

Did you notice the question marks?
I did my fun days with an Airstream trailer, in 47 states.
I don't want another one nor do I need one.
No, I didn't buy any tickets, nor do I intend to.
Perhaps Airstream can clarify this raffle, or perhaps shed some light on it.
Maybe it's legit and maybe not, I have no idea nor am I interested in it.

Buyer or "investor" beware. I would think if this was legitimate the people running the raffle would check the spelling in "their" ad before posting it. The mis-use of pronouns is a common tip to an overseas scam.

Michael that is terrific. You really did delve right in. I am anxious to see the results. Something like that with the vast readership here needs to have a definitive scam/legit endorsement.

I was curious so I checked with the CPA firm
I was curious about this and went to the web site and read the misspellings in the "About" area. I then clicked on the "Rules" part and went to the bottom and saw the name of a firm (CPA) that is overseeing this raffle. I googled their website and sent an inquiry to them at their website email address. It came back undeliverable so I called the CPA firm and spoke with someone by the name of Liz. Liz assured me that it is legitimate. I told her that some of us on a forum were questioning the authenticity of the raffle due to some of the grammar and also that her own firm's website email has a problem. She thanked me and said that that may be a factor in the response so far.
Please do not take this as proof that this is legitimate.......I will not be purchasing a ticket --I work too hard for my money......but this is the information I found out in case anyone wants to pursue it further. pj

That is a pretty neat idea, i have seen similar raffles for vehicles, It will be good to know if this is legit or not. I might have to buy a ticket if it is.

I helped build the site, the mis-spelling was simply a careless mistake on my part. If anyone has any questions about the legitmacy of this raffle I will be happy to field any questions on the matter. I am a resident of Botkins, Ohio and the site is a fund raising campaign to help the community pool make some much needed renovation improvements. We hope the raffle is such a success that we can afford to do it on an annual basis. I thank you for your support!

Before I make a bid on Ebay, I always look at the number of posts, I mean transactions that they have done.

Better Odds
We have these type of raffles in Santa Barbara and Paso Robles usually every year. The one in Santa Barbara is put on by the Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum. The tickets are $150 each and they sell a maximum of 18,000. First prize is a Santa Barbara house or $1,000,000. They have like 300 runner up prizes too. These raffles are all legit and are becoming a popular way for nonprofit groups to raise money for their cause. Even though a contibution to most of these non-profit groups may be tax-deductible, the IRS does not recognise buying a raffle ticket (and losing) as a contribution, so is not tax-deductible. You can bet if you were to win the raffle, the IRS would be right there for their cut though...

Here is the reply I received directly from the village of Botkin,OH.
"Michael:
My name is Michael VanBrocklin, and I am the Village Administrator for the
Village of Botkins. I am also the President of the BCIC, which is an acronym
for the "Botkins Community Improvement Corporation". The BCIC is organized
under Chapter 1724 of the Ohio Revised Code, and may act as the agent for
the Village in matters of economic, commercial, industrial and research
development. The mayor, myself, and two council members (as well as
community representatives) all serve on the BCIC. The BCIC has agreed to
support the Airstream Raffle, which is being organized and run by two
Council members, Craig Brown and Steve Woodruff. It is a legitimate effort
to raise funds for the Botkins Pool Committee."
Go for it in confidence,
Michael

Bambi Raffle
Hey all,
I recently saw this link to an an Airstream Raffle. I have checked with the CPAs overseeing it and it is legit. I have no stake in promoting it whatsoever:
Organization
Botkins Community Improvement Corporation of Botkins, OH.
Benefits
Fundraiser to benefit the Botkins Memorial Pool Committee for future upgrades and renovations.
AirstreamRaffle.com
Good luck,
Steve
