Summerkid -- you aren't the first troublemaker 'round these parts.
Look at this thread from last December --
http://www.airforums.com/forum...est-19745.html. Yes, there is a fluid nature to involvement and posting activity. I know why some folks have become less involved and do contact a few of them for good ol' info from time to time. I still miss them. As we stay active in our own way I find it easy to gain appreciations for new names and faces ... er, Airstreams.
Airstream Forums is moderated to maintain a good environment for information exchange. Sub-forums unrelated to Airstreams have been suggested (food, personals, singles). The rest of the web has that covered and that won't happen here. Quilters, hunters, pilots? Forum moderators (volunteers!) will not cherry pick non-Airstream or non-public info for these uses. The search function does not search out information in a poster's signature -- it's not Google, but then nobody is likely to buy this site for billions. Imagine the search hits on terms like GMC, Dodge or Ford!?!
The Off-Topic forum (any forum for that matter) will be actively managed and infrequently edited to remove contentious posts. This implies that a lot of irrelevant material remains standing. All posts that make any member unwelcome will receive our attention but not necessarily acted upon. Issues of sexuality have produced questionable exchanges and raised waves beyond this forum community in the past. They will most likely be reviewed. Members can complain about posts removed but they often don't see the final explosions that brought the topic down.
This is still a private site maintained by a specific set of rules and with a specific goal in mind. Making the web safe for Airstream talk -- for 40,000 hours!
