Thanks, Gail....I liked it.

So easy to be on automatic pilot, which is also highly functional during times of extreme stress......but, as the dust settles, more intentional is good.

Doug would say "Buddha Smiles", about the weather today and tomorrow.....about 40 degrees, some chance of rain, but we have packed up and left with temps in the teens and wind chills much below zero.

Not so today.....my filled shopping bags have made their way out, will just have the fridge to do in the am.

Needlework group in a bit.....I really enjoy those ladies. Have looked at the Senior Center near the campground on James Island.....they do not have a needlework group of any type or sort, so that little plan is out.

I will find something.

Safe travels Maggie. If I had the sense God gave a duck I'd be heading south too.

Miss Maggie... A little thing for me..

I don't wonder WHY I wander...
I wander BECAUSE I wonder...
The answer found to the wonder
Because I trusted and wandered

Travel well....

We drove to just east of Paducah, KY today.....far enough, with the Interstate piled with bags of this and that.

Got out the door by 9:15, and don't think anything important has been left behind.

Back in the day, Doug would drive and I would put things away.....now, I just do it the first evening or two.

On to TN tomorrow.

Pretty much unpacked and put away in here, and the first tank of dewinterizing water is thru the system......dumped this morning in steady rain.

A Doug chore, now mine, I gritted my teeth and just....did it.

At a county campground near Chattanooga for the next couple of nights....unexciting, but on a lake, W/E sites, hot showers, and a dump station....all the primary TV channels and good internet signal, for the bargain price of $18/night for a senior.

Being small, I am sideways in a lake site, so this is the view out my curbside windows.

After sitting for a couple of months, the cabinets need to be wiped out and the carpeted, under-benches sprayed with Febreze.

The smell of dog...but, she's worth it.

All is well, and starting to dream of Edisto...

Socks and pajamas are something I always check out at TJMaxx...I had to have these a week or so ago, one of a line they are carrying that are made in Italy....that are just pretty.

If one must wear warm socks in cold weather, they should be pleasing to the eye.

Thx for taking us with you again.

Like that you have a nice view. You might post in the "View from my Airstream Door" thread on occasion.

Cute socks.

Safe travel and adventure.

Thanks, Hittenstiehl, and I might do that.

It's fixin to get cold here.......but I have lots of warm socks, more than one pair with roses.

Good hunkering down weather.

Lily has already gotten used to having baby carrots....if I don't get them out, she asks for them.

That reminds me of a question I'd been meaning to ask. How do you give Lily a bath when you're on the road?

I agree, neat socks!

Thanks, Mimi. I just had to have them.

I only bathe Lily on the road when I absolutely must, and then with the outside shower, which you probably do not have. I carry a bar of solid dog shampoo.

I have found that brushing her regularly helps keep the shedding and odor down....it's what falls behind the benches that makes the inside smell doggy ....and sometimes I use a waterless dog bath product I buy at Petco.

Pour some on a rag or a few paper towels, wipe her muzzle, belly and nether parts with it, and she smells clean and fresh.

I have even used this effectively after she has rolled in duck poop....her favorite.

You can also buy a wipe for the same purpose, but I like the liquid better, and can really soak her with it if needed.

She does sleep on my bed, after all.

Add any humidity, and dog smells just permeate everything. . I bought a bottle of Febreze last year at Edisto, and now will never travel without it.

My kids gave me a Furminator deshedding tool for Christmas, and it's great. If I go over Blackie every day or so with that, there's much less of that black lab hair to deal with in the house. Blackie likes it, she's getting attention, after all. The kids did say that there are some reviews out there that say you need to be sure you're getting the real product. The knock-offs pull hair and the dogs hate them.

I'll have to think up how to rig an outside shower on an old Safari, and I definitely need some of that waterless dog bath from Petco.

Thanks a million!

You could probably get a 2 1/2 gallon solar shower, and get the job done with that, as Blackie has pretty short hair.

They work very well, and take up little space when empty.

Nice idea! I'll get one and put it on board. Worst case, I could refill that from the Airstream's water heater.

It is pouring rain here.

There is nothing quite like the sound of rain on these roofs.
