I must regularly admit to myself that I don't suffer fools gladly. Lately I've been doing that a lot more often as I age. I guess I'm running low on patience with fools and tolerance of silliness😈😄

My band of roses wrapped finger, on my roses wrapped, jammied self.....like being engulfed in a hug, as one of my Moraine View friends observed.

I left my beautiful anniversary band with Doug's daughter when I was in Iowa a couple of weekends ago....passing it on to her early, so she can wear and enjoy it, and feel close to her Dad....and I can enjoy watching that. Doug loved this ring almost as much as I did, and told me so many times. I wanted her to have it, and she was thrilled.

Because, why not. She's a good woman, will cherish and care for it, and eventually pass it on to her daughter.

Doug's kids struggle with feeling close to him in death, I believe because they have guilt. I do not, so it doesn't interfere for me. I was also just plain closer to and more emotionally connected with him, living and being together 24 hours on most days. Hard to explain, but that's what I feel, that it makes a difference.

Doug would want them to know he loved them all, totally, completely and unconditionally, and I told them that in a letter I wrote for him shortly after his death. They still have to find their own way to peace, and are not there yet.

We said "I love you" every single day, and "I appreciate you...I am thankful and grateful you are in my life....my life is better because you are in it" often.

I didn't get to say goodbye to him, because he never regained consciousness, but I know he knew how I felt, and cannot imagine dealing with the aftermath of his sudden death without that knowledge within me.

Speak the words to those you love, because you never know when it might be too late.

Every morning, this view makes me smile.

I began collecting these glass after we retired, had the shelves cut to fit, and Doug installed mini brackets to hold my "pretties", as he called them.

We put these trellis panels up late in the last fall he was alive. I planted the vines the following spring, and have been nurturing and nudging them to fill out the panels.

Sun, rain, snow, sleet.....it is always good.

I get it,Maggie. I do try to be tolerant of "fools & idiots", but, must admit that I have less and less tolerance for those ones ....in my later years. My daughter and I watched a show that we usually enjoy this fall, but, the far left attitude of Hollywood writers and producers was so blatant, that I found it irritating.

The "PC" was straight from DC philosophy, in that they talked about , (in a futuristic show), the amnesty for millions of illegals, and the way it affected, what they called the14'rs. Those who were born in USA, but, who were treated as invisible, as a result of the over burdenening of the social services system.

This is just another example of how Hollywood seeks to influence politics in an overt way. That being said, that program will be excluded from our watch list.
I guess if HW is persistent in presenting controversial programming, into our living rooms, we will eventually be as mindless sheep, accepting any and everything, as 'normal'!

I submit, that, as Americans, we are not so manageable! NOT HERE! Not in my house!
I am deeply dismayed at the obvious devizifness, lack of respect for authority figures, and outright anarchy spreading throughout our nation. Now, in the midst of threats of attack from radical monsters, there is ONE who is oblivious to the fact that a multitude of ISIS KILLERS are the majority of so called "refugees from Syria", and this ONE WANTS TO LET THEM COME HERE,PUTTING US ALL IN DANGER!

There, I felt it strongly, said it...now, relinquish my soapbox! Sorry, to hijack your thread, Maggie. I just had to! Evelyn.

Maggie, that silver rose ring is lovely. So sweet of you to pass your special anniversary ring on to Doug's daughter. I'm sure she appreciates both the ring and the love that goes with it.

A bit of hijacking here is okay, Evelyn...I hijack myself sometimes.

Had a busy morning running around, and then needlework group this afternoon.

Lily was feeling a bit neglected, but has now had a good walk so all is right with her world. .

Such simple needs, dogs, and no responsibilities....unless an actual working dog...but for guarding home and loved ones.

You didn't miss much.

I'll pm you who, and you can google him if you like.....then you will know why it is aggravating.

Referring to the Hollywood I took issue with.....I know not of what Evelyn speaks.

Unfortunately, in a democracy, the voters get the leaders they deserve. I'll hush up now and step off the soapbox.

Just be sure to vote. The folk that don't vote don't get to complain, IMHO.

Maggie, reading posts again this morning....I realized that I pushed the line a bit too far, got too political. Sorry if it offends. I just can't seem to help myself sometimes! I just get so disgusted by the Lazefair (? Spelling?) attitude coming out of this current administration. In all my 77 years, I've not seen anything like it.....almost unbelievable!

I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK!!!!!..........OK......I'll stop now. Evelyn.

Oh, Maggie, I forgot...do you mind sharing your recipe for corn/shrimp chowder? When it turns cold, I'm in the mood for warm soups, chowders, etc. Thanks. Evelyn.

No worries, Evelyn.

I am hard to offend....tho it can be done, one must really work at it.

If I felt you, or anyone, had gone too far, I would have simply said something to that effect.

I do think we could get off the politics, now, tho, especially since we don't all agree. We not only don't need the heated rhetoric, I don't want to anger the mods.

I'll find that recipe and post it. It was really delicious, and reheated well, tho the corn to chowder ratio is pretty high. I may cut that back the next time and cut up a little red potato in there instead.

SHRIMP & CORN CHOWDER

4 slices thick cut bacon, sliced
4 green onions, sliced
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
1/4 cup all purpose flour
2 1/2 cups 2% milk
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1 bay leaf
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper
24 cleaned and deveined shrimp, fresh or frozen, about 1 pound
10 ounce package frozen corn, thawed

Cook bacon til crisp and remove, leaving drippings in pan. Add green onions, garlic and thyme to drippings, sauté 2 minutes. Sprinkle flour over, stir in well and cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add milk, broth, salt, peppers and bay leaf. Bring to boil, then simmer 5-10 minutes, til bubbling lightly and thickened. Add shrimp, corn and reserved bacon. Cook til hot and shrimp are done.

As I said, I might use half the corn and add a couple of small, diced red potatoes, cooking those til nearly done, then adding the shrimp.

Yum!

More killings and hostage taking today. May the souls of the dead rest in peace, and may the perpetrators get what they deserve.....now.

You know you're an addict when you have to say to yourself....I'll crochet just two more rows, then I will get to the cleaning, do the laundry, haul wood, walk Lily, etc., etc..

I so love to crochet. My biggest creative outlet.

Ran across the prettiest pattern for a mini poncho capelet thingy, with a cowl neckline and scalloped edging, that I just must make.

Made myself get the house cleaned before I even went to get yarn, then to haul some wood and eat lunch before I sat down to it. If I had less self discipline, crochet is about all I would do in the course of a day.

Could be worse.

Snow coming tomorrow. I have lots of firewood.
