Did some errand running in my daily driver this morning, and saw my beloved chiropractor for a tuneup.

There is remarkably less adjusting needed to my neck and back since the onset of orthotic leveler wear last spring. And so much less discomfort in hip and back, they were a great purchase.

Picked up some nectarines to add to my Rumtopf in the next couple of days...will probably quit wth that addition, and just let it mellow for the next few months.

Raspberries, blueberries, peaches and nectarines...plus sugar and rum.

What's not to love.

Since it is Thursday, dropped in on my needlework group this afternoon. There is an avid couple of genealogists there, who have suggested a road trip next year to discover more of our roots.

I think I could do that....we would drive in the Interstate, share fuel expenses, and figure out accommodations, depending on how many want to go. I could take 4, don't know that there would be that many.

I will drive them out, they will fly back and I will continue on into the planned sojourn of upper NY state, see my daughter and hers, etc.

Hmmm? We'll see how it plays out.

I've begun to brace myself a bit these days when I turn on the news...so much absolutely senseless death occurring in our country and elsewhere.

May their souls rest in peace.

Seems to be no end. We must go to our inner selves to handle this stuff. Trying to stay sane and logical when dealing with the problems in the world today. God bless all involved.

Savages and monsters strick again in France! This savagery is occurring all too frequently....and no place seems safe. These creatures cannot be counted as human beings. They all deserve a special place in h..l!

My heart breaks for those poor people. God bless those poor victims and their families!

Terrorists abroad, and senseless killings here, as well.

Who...are...these people.

I remember decades ago, the grave concerns held by social psychologists when violent video games were becoming so popular.

They were concerned that the fake and detached "killings" in these games desensitized kids to violence, and increased the likelihood that they would grow up to be violent adults....lacking the conscience and empathy needed to refrain from harming others.

You have to wonder....

On another note....in preparation for leaving in a matter of days, little house has been scrubbed and polished.

2-2 1/2 hours, even by myself, gets it done. Small is good.

These people are following what their book tells them to do. Their book also tells them that it is ok to do things like that because their victims are not "innocent".

Before anyone offers the "peaceful people" claim, read their book.

I understand that's what radical terrorists believe....but we have so much here, in our own country, and these are not ISIS.

It's a terrible state we humans are in.

I agree.... Terrible state.

It's easy to understand their motivation when you also understand that according to their book and their current "what is a true believer" guide, the vast majority of the followers of that book are apostates according to that book, and that book is a very detailed "how to" guide for dealing with non-believers.

They are simply applying what the "how to" guide instructs. And, according to that book, they get rewarded handsomely for doing what they do.

My son picked my MacBook Pro up last pm, installed a solid state hard drive and 8GB of memory in it today, transferred everything from the old hard drive over, and just brought it back.

What a wiz he is.

It is like a new computer, moving with the speed of light, and I should get a few more years out of this 7 year old item.

He's very handy to have around...yes, he is.

It has been a puttering day....in and around the little house, and in the Interstate, doing some readying to leave on Wednesday.

Pulling weeds, nudging and nurturing the ivy on the trellis panels in front that Doug and I put in place the last fall he was alive.

It has filled out and the ivy is now growing around the front porch posts...going to have to stop giving it Miracle Gro in the spring, or I will need to take the hedge trimmer to it.

I do love it, but want to tell it enough, already.

My son was going thru some photos this morning, and sent this one to me...Grandpa Doug, quietly counseling Caleb about something at my daughter's wedding in 2013.

Doug walked her down the aisle and gave her away... he the only father she had ever known.

One of Doug's and my Sunday traditions was the newspapers....the local Pantagraph, and the Chicago Tribune.

Depending on what else needed to be done, we often didn't finish the papers til midweek....umm, that would be Doug, who read the comics and every word of every editorial, also most every word in the news, sports and business sections.

Me, not so much....the comics and sports sections go directly to the trash, and my favorite section in the Trib is LifeStyle.

Reading Miss Manners today, she is writing about denouncing political correctness, something I didn't realize was a social issue..."adding denouncing political correctness to her list of conversational prefaces from which no good ever follows. Others include, "Do you want me to be perfectly honest with you?", and "Would you like some constructive criticism?" When people announce they plan to abandon the rules of civilized discourse, they should be taken seriously."

Run, she says.

Political correctness is the conviction held by liberals that a turd has a clean end by which it could be picked up.

We can debate the perceived value of political correctness forever, but I totally agree with the definition, minus the bit about liberals.

P.s. I'm not aerodynamically correct either....

Running errands this morning in my daily driver Interstate...I am getting very good about organizing errands so as to minimize trips out.

Picked up some things to stock the frig, and found this bag at Walmart...under $15, and they have a whole line of them, in different sizes.

I needed a larger bag for toiletries, etc., as I use public showers when traveling whenever possible...the current one is small enough that it never really dries, and always has that musty smell to it.

This one will work perfectly...has pockets, which are very important to organized living, is lined with nylon, and can be washed if necessary...and is pretty, no? I like.

Went into the Music Shoppe in Normal to have the string on my baritone ukulele replaced, which as I had the string they did at no cost....wasn't that nice!

I'm looking forward to playing it again, as it is a very relaxing and soothing activity.

I'm just about ready to leave, and Mimi is on her way north...
