Thanks for the virtual hugs....I live life hug-deprived these days.

And for the cleaning tip, Ed. All Blue Beacons don't have undercarriage washes, but if this one does not I will ask them to do it by hand.

Jane brought her husband this morning, and both golden retrievers, and we had a grand time on the beach, then got carryout from McConkeys and had a picnic outside. Lovely.

Nice, nice people, and so generous with their time to come visit me. I loved it.

Will pack up and leave here in the morning, and am already missing this place....but looking forward to washing and de-sanding most of my clothing as well as the Interstate. There is grit on and in everything.

I'll be back next year.

Maggie, I think when you meet us all in Wyoming, and/or Oregon....we'll need to fall in line to give you hugs...and to get Some back! You are correct...we all need an occasional hug once in awhile. A nice warm hug is good for the soul!

Deb and I picked up the BAMBI today and brought it home to begin my organizing for upcoming trip. Since I plan to fly back to take possession of my Interstate, I will take non perishable supplies down on the first trip, and put in "Goliath"....the revised name Deb chose for the for the AI. (She thought the one I chose was corny! ) Deb has gotten over the initial shock, and is now very happy for me and is pleased for the extra safety factors of the AI.

I am thinking of taking advantage of being close to the Gulf coast, and make a trip down to Port Aransas and South Padre Island. I'm thinking that will be a good idea, to get a trip in and check stuff out...then, if problems appear, I will still be in the area for service.

I am soooo looking forward to this new journey! Blessings. Evelyn.

I try to keep a 5 hug a day minimum... since I live alone, I usually have to go out and get them!!! it works most of the time... however, today, with the 50 mph wind gusts and pouring rain, I'm thinking I'll miss my quota!!!

I'm a hugger by nature and I find most people are really appreciative of the gesture... so here one to all of you!!!!.. keep having fun!!!! gail

A Hug -a - day...is good for the soul...and causes smiles. That can only be good for all of us!

Evelyn....there is not much at South Padre Island, and I wouldn't recommend camping there. The area closer to Corpus Christi is more hospitable.

Lily had an early run on the beach this morning, then we were out by 8am.

Sad to see Edisto in my rear view mirror, but we will be back next year.

Laundry and rugs are done up....it smells so much better in here, and I am a happy girl...Skype-ing with darling daughter as the clothes washed.

Then we wove our way to a PA campground about mid way between Charleston and Columbia, where there are labs to be done, groceries to be gotten, and a Beacon truck wash on my radar for tomorrow.

Putting away clothing, feeding my tummy and a glass of wine after a bit are all that are yet on the agenda for today.

Edisto truly restores something deep in my soul. It is hard to describe, but there is such a peaceful feeling from being there.

Places you love give that to you....I guess it's why we go back.

I agree with Maggie about South Padre, but Port Aransas should be good. It's near Corpus Christi and is a well-established town and tourist area. I haven't been there in more years than I want to admit, but my kids have, and they enjoyed it.

Thanks Maggie. Port Aransas may well be the destination...if I decide to go that way. I'm still in the thinking about it stage. There are some good memories there....Deb and I went there.....Mother/daughter time, just prior to Deb's leaving for basic training in USAF.... Some poignant memories...as my oldest prepared to "leave the nest" and began her life on her own. Funny stories from that trip...to be shared at a later date...after a glass of wine...this fall.

I know it will be so very different, some 40+ years later, and alone. I've heard this little fishing village is very built up and commercialized....not at all similar to the way we remember it. I just hope progress has not totally ruined it's original charm.

Our middle son is a maintenance manager at a Port Aransas resort .. And has 3 of our granddaughters there. Really a "nice place to visit"... Tough to live there unless independently wealthy...

But still nice place to visit...since I have a reason to go.

Interesting the discussion about hugs...yesterday's ( Sunday) strip of Lynn Johnson's "For Better or for worse" (fbofw.com) had the children creating a hug to mail to their grandmother who lived far away. It was quite poignant...and clever.

We always loved For Better or for Worse, and it was the first thing we looked at in the morning paper.

We were sad to see the strip come to a writing end.

Not light til after 7am today, Lily and I took a bike ride together on the deserted road into the campground.

A happy girl.

Squeaky clean Interstate, labs done, tire pressure checked, groceries stocked and made it to Devils Fork SP a day earlier than planned....a beautiful place, thank you Jane, where I have Verizon signal and all the major TV channels.

We are the only people in this lakeside loop.

It was 78 degrees when we left Columbia a couple of hours ago, 67 degrees here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I'll take cool over heat any day. Pouring rain right now, but that's okay, too.

All is well...have gone from beach to mountain elevations in 36 hours.

Maggie, after researching my AAA trip tic, I realized the very nice lady who helped me lacked a certain skill. Based on first look, (silly me, I made RV reservations down & back, then hotel for 2 nights each). Then I decided to really dig into it...she was taking this senior lady, towing a trailer, alone...literally through the boonies all the way! On farm and ranch roads and some unpaved, very little on hwys as I had requested. Don't know what she was thinking...or not. Anyhooo....

I did my own trip plan...a few miles and $$ extra, I'll go straight east on I 70 Dnvr- salinas, Ks- I35 straight to Ft Worth...interstates all the way. I like much better...if I need anything, good chance I can find it. So, now it is a 3 day trip each way, not thru Amarillo. I'll make reservations tomorrow, after I find the right spots. No side trip to gulf coast...not enough time. Later, maybe.

I hope to get a chance to meet Mimi while in Ft Worth, if time allows. That would be nice. I think she is planning on the Oregon get together.

Glad you seem to be of a happier spirit , now. It goes and comes, needs to be acknowledged, dealt with , and tucked away. Continue to enjoy your snow bird experience, you and Lily. Safe travels. God bless.

She is very happy not to be driving.

The drive over and up here was beautiful yesterday....lots of shrubs blooming in yellows and pinks, daffodils, red bud trees....spring comes early out here.

Lots of Trump for President signs, too.

Going to have a few more pleasant days, then temps will become more seasonal, with nighttime lows in the 30's.

As much as I love Edisto, I am glad to be out and off of the sand. Parked here on a clean, paved site.

Looking forward to being still after two busy days. Walks, crocheting, walks...and more crocheting.

Hi Gail!

It's quite lovely here, we've had two good walks and intend for a third yet today, hopefully down to the lake....there is a path around here somewhere.

I'm ready for summer, Gail!
