OK. time to expose my ignorance: I keep seeing ads for MHs and discussions about "tag axles," but I have no idea what that extra axle does, except maybe support some weight. Judging by some of the discussions on this forum, however, it seems these axles might be more trouble than they are worth. Also, what does the "tag" designation mean? Tagging along? Not attached to the drive train?
Right on both counts. Chevy/Ford did not respond as fast to the demand for greater weight and length as the rv market demanded, tags were "invented". They are really not that much trouble, just many are older and often new owners try to fix problems the previous owner tolerated.
