Ugly squeal

My wife and I Airstream in a 1994 30ft Land Yacht LE. While comming home yesterday from a trip I noticed a squeel when I press the break pedal. I live next to Hoover Dam and while sitting in trafic Ipressed the pedal and heard the noise. I thought it was my breaks but the sound is there even when sitting still. It sounds like the powerstearing is the break and powerstearing somehow connected? Any thoughts??

I forgot to mention that while sitting still if I press the break pedal hard the squeel will start. The noise is not constant only when pressing the break pedal hard.

What is your tow vehicle? I'm asking because on some vehicles, brake vacuum is made by the power steering pump & if the belt is loose then you may get a squeel.

I believe that a 30foot Land Yacht LE is a motorhome.

Does the motorhome have a hydro boost system, which runs off of the power steering pump, or a vacuum brake booster?

Bill

That should take care of it, unless, of course, the power steering pump is going bad. Also, check for leaks.
