Side out stuck open

I have a new to me 96 Cutter. The slide out is stuck open. When I bought the MH the slide was closed. It opened fine but won't close.
when I turn on the close switch the motor runs freely but does not engage. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with my land yacht and went to you tube. They had enough different versions to aid in my solving the problem.
