Lightbulb ? rivets in '84 moho?

WE have a 1984 polished Airstream Motorhome and were wondering if you knew what sort of rivets were used when it was built and where we can purchase them from now
and any associated tools that we will need
We are from Australia so hope you understand what we mean.
Thank you Steve

For the exterior, you can use "Olympic rivets" or buck rivets, if the interior paneling is removed.

For the interior, "pop rivets" are used.

If your going to use just a few "Olympic rivets" the pin can be cut flush with the rivet head, and then dressed down with a "Dremel tool" instead of using a "shaver". If your going to use a large number of "Olympic rivets" then a shaver can be justified.

No matter where you may chose to buy a shaver, the cost will exceed $200.00 and then some.

I would also add a correction to the post above, about the drill bit sizes that should be used.

Instead of the 1/8 drill bit, a #30 drill bit should be used. Also, instead of a 5/32 drill bit, a #21 drill bit should be used.

Those sizes are the industry standards, for almost 40 years.

Andy

Hi Andy, As I am going to replace a couple of previously repaired panels that were drilled and a puller used then the holes filled with "Devcon" should I be looking for "Olympic" or "Buck" rivets or are these the same. If I use a shaver will the rivets polish up shiney like the original one. Are you the person who can sell me the rivets and shaver?? The Motorhome is going to an Aircraft Fabrication shop early next month. I appreciate your help.

Steve,

Use Olympic rivets. They are a one person installation.

Buck rivets would need the interior of the coach gutted in the area od the metal replacement, and one person on the inside and one person on the outside in order to install them.

Properly used, a shaver will leave a nice and bright finished rivet head.

We are not allowed to solicit on this Forums.
