Radiator Hoses for 1983 310

Hello everyone,

I have a 1983 Airsteam 310 motorhome with a chevy 454 gas eng. It sits on a P-30 Chevy Van Chassis. I am trying to replace my radiator hoses, both upper and lower, while I am having the radiator cleaned and serviced. I am doing all the work myself and have run into a problem with finding the correct hoses. I have gone through the normal parts houses and local truck and RV dealers. The hoses that I have do not mach any that any parts place's data bases seem to say are the correct ones. If anyone knows the part number for the hoses I need I would be very thankful. PLEASE HELP ME.
Billy

Welcome to the Forum!

You have come against a very common problem -

It seems that sometimes the "parts houses" claim that they have no parts at all for a P-3X chassis -

Your chassis serial number will identify the chassis as a P-30, P-32, or a P-37.
From other threads about replacing radiators here on the Forums it sometimes seems that Airstream installed their own unique radiator on the chassis. Several horror stories about searches for replacement radiators can be found by utilizing the "Search" function in the "blue" area of the pull-down legend towards the top of the page.

It's best to have the old part in hand when you go the the parts store in order to compare it to what the parts store has on the rack - sometimes it's a "go with the best fit".

I wish you luck with your search - please keep us posted on how you come out on quest for a replacement part.

Try these numbers

Upper radiator hose 61569 (Goodyear)
Lower radiator hose 61568 (Goodyear)

It is not a van chassis (they were G series), if you tell them that it is probably confusing them and one reason you might be getting wrong parts.

John

Another Goodyear number for you for the upper 61455
Lower-universal hose 1 3/4x 13/4, 24" long

And here are yet more numbers:

GM 343414 (lower) $18.56
GM 6259953 (upper) $13.51

These were the exact fit replacements for my '74 that I got from my Chevy dealer. GM Parts Direct shows both as currently available.

I tried several hoses from various third-party suppliers (NAPA, Carquest, etc.) but none was an exact fit. Some weren't even very close.

I recently replaced my upper hoses, carried them into NAPA they had replacements on the shelf. I also replaced the overflow bottle, and radiator cap with stock items that fit right in.

The 343414 must have been a long running part. It was also used on a 1979 P30 I used to have.

The 343414 is now discontinued. Any suggestions on how I can replace the old one?
