Question Pre-purchase inspection-San Antonio

Can anyone recomend a shop or dealer to do a pre-purchase inspection in the San Antonio, Texas area?

CBBOB,
Dan Bailey out of Austin, Tx has a mobile RV repair business. You may get him to check the unit out for you. It won't be cheap, but he is very experienced.

Or you could pay Peter to drive a few hours and check it out for you. Isn't San Antonio reasonably close to Austin? I'd trust his opinion.

Maybe we should develop a pre-purchase list of deal breakers. Many of the typical RV problems may not kill the deal since repairs and restorations are part of the game.

1) Deal Breakers

2) Price Droppers

3) Non-issues

Fred, thanx for the vote of confidence.
I find your idea rather dangerous. You know that I have a soft spot for MH's. What if I like it?
You would never hear the end of it and CBBOB would be mad.

All jokes aside, I don't have a boat, all the flooding, you know.
CBBOB, if all fails you can contact me.

Peter, Thanks for Dan Bailey, it looks like he can help me. Fred,
Thanks for volunteering Peter, though I will try not to bother him.

Yea, don't bother Peter too much right now. There will be plenty of time to bother him in the future if you buy it! He loves the attention.

On another note, I did have a phone interview with Classic Motorhome magazine today. It was about the upcoming article on our units. It's a good thing he didn't ask any mechanical questions. I'm the website guy. I'm scared to replace my airbags and that's an easy job. I fought with my hose reel for weeks.

I hope Dan Bailey tells you everything you need! I'm sure it will be money well spent. If you buy it, You'll know what problems your buying.

Well what ever happened to old CBBOB?
From other following posts he apparently did not buy the San Antonio MH?

And what is more of the story on Dan Bailey of the Austin area? What services does he offer? What is his hourly rate? Does he have a shop?
Is he Airstream Trained ?

or is he more of a Mechanical (engine/drivetrain) automotive type much more useful around Motorhomes?

Since his phone number is listed in the post and you live in TX too why don't you call him and ask.

Pre-purshase inspection-San Antonio

Hey! I just read your thread. I live in San Antonio and would be happy to check out a trailer for you and send pics, etc. I have only been in the Airstream forum since last fall but I have learned quite a bit and could at least get you some quality pics of the unit. PM me and I will send you my phone # or e-mail.

Thanks,

John Lawrence
San Antonio, TX

ps - any details on the trailer?

Why didn't I think of that ?

I didn't think that was what the forums were all about. I instead think of many of the people here being willing to share information between each other. Please forgive my selfish not thinking.

However your generous comment speaks volumes of your wonderful attitude. I am never less than amazed at your ocean of knowledge, and wonderfully sharing and benevolent outpourings of advice.
When you speak, as far as I am concerned it should be chisled in stone. Out of my great respect for you, I think I will do just that and make the call. Thank you greatly for the suggestion. I would have never thought of it.

BTW my phone even goes out of state.
If you would be good enough to post your phone number I would dearly love to call you and your wonderful wife on occasion to just tell you all how much I enjoy and look forward to your unbridled guidance and wisdom.

Gosh have you ever stopped to ponder just how much bandwidth could be saved if everyone posted their phone numbers and we then could just call each other with help. That IMHO would save loads of bandwidth.
Thanks again Brett, isn't it just amazing how such an unintended idea and how much good can come from such a simple act of kindness.?

This thread has been inactive for nearly 2 years. CBBOB bought a different MH in August of 2002, as you can see in this happy thread.

I'm sure your kind offer is appreciated anyway.

Thanks for the offer!! As related above, I did buy an A/S Motorhome soon after. I think the willingness of forum members to lend a hand could be a
lot of help in such situations. I would very much appreciate it.
Thanks to everyone.
