Red face Locking gas caps.

When I drove 7 1/2 hours from Canada to Wooster Ohio to pick up my new2me 1975 Argosy motorhome this weekend from the garage doing some work on it, I knew the garage had the ignition key. I considered leaving all the other keys at home due to the fact that I wouldn't need to get into any storage compartments or start the generator etc, etc; but decided that maybe customs would want to inspect everything, so I took the master set down with me.

Thank God I did, as unbeknownst to me a PO had put a locking gas cap on the filler tube.......Imagine my face when I lifted up the flap door to find that. if I had no key to unlock it.

Take all keys, just in case.

Cheers

Keep a key ring (In the MH) for all the locks inside and outside the MH ...
And keep one key ring with you to "Rule them All"

Not me; why have the expense of replacing, not only the gas they stole, but the filler neck and cap they busted getting to the gas.

Locks just deter the casual thief, not the determined one. IMHO, the only thing a locking gas cap does stop, is someone throwing something down your tank.

Cheers

I have a locking cap, it is there for the casual festival "A"hole who thought it would be funny to use the gas filler as a urinal or a spur of the moment Molotov cocktail fuse!

Siphoning out the my filler is almost impossible required 3 to 4' of tubing going around many bends, and usually with 1/2 or less fuel in the tank.
If they want gas badly, just unscrew the drain plug and get 20+ gallon in their face

Not my neighborhood (so far)
Some places they hold these festivals can be a bit sketchy. A $5 cap is cheaper than dumping my fuel and cleaning the tank.
