ebay - Funeral Coach disguised!

There is currently a moho on ebay listed as a 1982 30 "V-classic" (whatever that is). It was originally a funeral coach. Look at the big square door on the curb-side rear. Now you'll know about those "things that go bump in the night!" Go ahead and call Scooby and Shaggy now. I guess you could always call Ghostbusters!

Saw that on there, was not too keen on the lower color combo...

FYI- The owner is a forums member.
This is a nice coach for someone, and the extra door could you give you a sideline business.

There are several folks on the Forum who own the funeral coaches, and seem to have been able to adapt them very well to other uses. I know one who uses his as a sales vehicle for golfing equipment. Might be worth a look for someone looking for that length.

That door could come in handy... He who ate the baked beans for supper sleeps on the curb side

I wouldn't pass it up just because it once had - ahem 'other' uses, but I would wonder about the craftsmanship that went into turning it back into an RV. As funeral coaches did they have bathrooms, kitchens, things like that? Or was it just full of seats like a bus (that's what I'd assume)?

The funeral coaches usually had a kitchen (sometimes a limted kitchen) and toilet but no shower.

I have pictures of several units on my unique units page.

I don't think that is a funeral coach...only one door, but maybe the other one has been skinned over? I have seen a couple of the funeral coaches in person and the doors are on both sides. Also I have never seen one with a full kitchen.

In the Airstream book, Wanderlust: Airstream at 75, there is a picture of a funeral coach in use with a coffin sticking out of the door and the back opened up displaying flowers on tiered shelves. It is actually very cool looking. It would be a great send-off for the hard-core Airstreamer...sort of gives a new meaning to "full timer".

Look carefully at the photos. I think it does have doors on both sides. the doors also match up exactly with the other funeral coaches on my site. I agree with you on the kitchen. It is larger than other funeral coaches. The interior seating is also very different.

Okay...maybe it was a one door funeral coach
he has addtional pictures on his website and from the interior pictures I can see the back door. I still don't see a left side coffin door, so maybe it never had one. I would assume these things were custom built so you could order them however you wanted.

You're right. No street side door. Not sure why you would need a street side door since you would never park facing oncomming traffic. This one is certainly unique. Maybe the funeral coach order fell through and they changed it to a motorhome to get it sold.

Maybe the double doors were so someone could get on the other side, and give it a pull (or push) if it got tough to deal with from the curb side only.
I hear folks are dying to get into those coaches...

My guess is that the street side door was to facilitate loading depending on which side of the coach the entrance to the church or funeral home was located in relation to the parked coach at the time.

I haven't seen the interior of many AS MH's but it looks like the corners are more square than I would have expected so the interior could have been added later perhaps using some modified AS cabinets from another coach or even manufacturer or custom made units. I most likely am wrong about the square corners though.

There was a funeral coach for sale in Fla awhile back that was completely redone, with dinette, kitchen and more. It looked like a 345 with extra doors in the back.
