Cockpit headliner

Hi! Another eyesore on the interior of my 345 is the headliner over the cockpit area....it has several cracks which have been stopped by a small drill hole but I would like to do something to repair them...I need some how-to on a cosmetic fix since replacement of the vinyl headliner may be too much even if a replacement is available. I also need to get rid of the mauve upholstery(how did women think this was attractive) which is a real eyesore but that is a project for another day.

I've not seen a solution to your question in the forums but I have the same problem in our '87 345, both fore and aft ceilings. A possible solution may be to treat it like a vinyl siding repair... seal the holes and cracks with plastic epoxy, then paint the entire area with two coats of 100% acrylic latex paint.

Go to your local, well-stocked auto store and buy a good vinyl repair kit. You can custom mix the required color, and they give you a set of texture sheets to match the 'grain' of the vinyl. The really good sets even have a heat iron to speed the cure.

I've used them and with a little practice, you can match the look and feel of the liner and make the cracks go away!

3-M Super 90 spray adhesive. The stuff is bomb-proof..............just follow the directions!
