Bonjour Soulac-sur-Mer

Made it safely to Bordeaux. A pretty long drive, but pleasant enough. France is a really fantastic country. If anyone ever wants to have an extended vacation over here, then let me know and I can recommend some great campsites.

What about routes into Europe Nick? The obvious (at least for us) is the tunnel. Did you go that route or use the ferry to Le Harve/Caen/Cherbourg/St Malo/Roscoff and avoid Paris????

Enjoy either way, and feel free to stop by on the way back if you need a break!

We've taken both. Tunnel easily the best and cheap if you are heading for central France or Germany/Italy/Scandinavia. For western France, we usually take the ferry to Caen. Newhaven also good and cheaper. It chucks you out further west so better for the west coast/Spain/Portugal, although obviously depends on how long you go away for. We usually take 2-3 weeks in Summer with the kids. This time we will drive one way, head for Perigord (Dordogne), a quick stop in the Pyrenees for some rafting and then back on Brittany Ferries flagship (Port Aven) from Northern Spain to Portsmouth. Expensive, but a very good service. I have a discount code if you ever use them.

It's great. Good food, pool, cinemas and big enough to minimise tummy problems in rough seas. There are two outdoor cabins at the rear which have large private balconies. You have to book very early to snag those. Plus, good for vacations in Spain and Portugal.
