After over a year staying in one RV park what to check before travel.

So we have been setting in an RV Park for over a year and we are about to get on the road again. Any advice?

First thingI would check is tires. How old are they? Are they showing signs of aging?

Where / near what city? Weather makes a real difference in what things could have deteriorated.

Hi

Has the engine been off for the entire year? If so there could be some "interesting things" going on here or there.

1) check for critter nests in the engine compartment as well as chewed wires / hoses

2) check all fluid levels

3) charge the chassis battery if it's not on a trickle charger already

4) head over and get an oil change / lube. Year old oil is into the "questionable" range. (yes there is more than a little debate about this, if it's synthetic oil .... maybe skip this one).

5) as mentioned above tire pressure / tire condition is very much on the list no matter what. Might as well check the dates on the tires. Over 10 years old? plan a stop for new ones. Over 5 years old? Get very picky as you look at them.

6) Do a "trial run" around town the day before you head out on the big trip. Top off the fuel tank. See how everything feels and handles.

Fun !!

Thanks Bob. Engine and generator exercised and checked for critters every month. Tires good. Oil up to date and a trial run scheduled. Good list

Let’s see, that’s a long time in one spot…..ummm, get your eyes tested for new glasses and don’t forget to use the restroom before you take off. Other than that you’re good to go!
