79 Excella

Hi all, haven’t posted for years now and it’s time to sell my 24’ 79 Excella. I haven’t had the time to look after her and she needs a lot of work. There has been a leak on the front passenger side and the storage compartments underneath are very rusted.
There is a lot that needs work, but it runs. The brakes work but you have to use a rope to pull the brake pedal back up! The engine was replaced about 6 years ago, but only has about 15 km on that engine. It needs new tires. Sigh….
So, lots wrong, but some right! I’m just wondering if anyone here can give me a thought on price? I have a neighbour here who has offered $5000 Canadian for it which seems like a pretty good thing to me, but of course I know people that tell me oh it’s worth way more than that, even in that condition (my younger cousins who are mechanics but live on the other side of Canada!)
Any input is helpful. I’m probably just going to sell it to the guy down the road (if he is really interested), but thought I’d check here first.
Thanks for any responses,
Sarah

The price seems low based on your description but it also depends on your location. I'd place the value closer to $10k Canadian but at the same time if the potential buyer is going to have to drive or transport it a large distance that certainly diminishes the value.

Also I would think with gas prices being what they are right now and with no end in sight in that regard maybe closer to $5k could be considered reasonable.

The bottom line is if the buyer and seller are happy with the deal then that should be all that's important.

Thank you!

Thanks for the replies. I did sell it to him. I feel slightly sad as I drive by and see it parked in his yard. Sad that it’s not mine anymore, but also happy that someone has bought it and is fixing it up and really enjoying it, that’s the good side of things!
