12V or 24V outlet for tv

My '96 land yacht has a cabinet with an ac/dc tv in the rear bedroom. The cabinet has a 110v and a 12v cigarette lighter plug in it. The old tv was plugged into the 110. I checked the cigarette lighter plug and found it carries 24v at the leads connected to it. Anyone have an idea if this is how it is supposed to be or is it not wired correctly. I bought the rv a few years ago, and am not sure if it was wired this way at the factory or if this is an add-on. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks!

John

Have you checked voltage anywhere else? Do you have 2 12v house batteries? Someone possibly installed them in series instead of parallel. 24 volt is usually military or big trucks, have you check the voltage requirement for the refrigerator, furnace and water heater?

There are appliances available in 24Vdc, but they are mostly for marine or aviation applications. Especially for high load uses like windlasses and bow thrusters.

It's possible the PO put in a special 24V outlet, but he should have used a different receptacle to eliminate confusion.

I have four of those outlets with 110 and a cigarette lighter outlet and all of them register 12V. Further my wiring diagram shows no 24V oulets in tha coach. I would say you have a problem somewhere or something was changed along the way.
