My P30 Transmission is being replaced. The shop wants to replace the radiator as well because the tranny cooling lines go thru it. I am being told that pulling the radiator is very labor intensive. It is to be pulled up thru the hood.
Can anyone tell me the labor time for this? I have searched and not been able to find the time for the 2002 Air Stream Land Yacht 26' with the Workhorse 8.1 gas engine.
Also the shop is having a problem locating new Transmission cooling lines.
any help is appreciated! I need to get back on the road!

I would get a second quote from a reputable shop. Any qualified transmission shop should be able to custom make the cooling lines, using the old ones as a template. Replacing the radiator because of a transmission replacement sounds unnecessary, unless the transmission fluid cooling reservoir is leaking.

That will be a Allison 1000 5 speed trans. The radiator could be flushed. The external cooler, maybe not. Its a parallel cooler, much harder to flush properly. Also the Allison uses much bigger lines, something like 5/8" or so!

Unfortunately the cooling reservoir was leaking. I was hit with a number of other issues...rear main seal leaking, ERG gasket leak, Oil dipstick tube corrosion (I wonder why I had such difficulty getting the dipstick back down the tube). 23 years old and preventive maintenance of belt change and water pump...I decided it was time to look for a newer motorhome as I did not want to put more than $10,000 in repairs. It is a VERY sad decision as I have absolutely loved this Motorhome.
Thank you for your input!
