Tag axle shock

Has any one replaced the shock between the rear axle and the tag axle on a 325 or 345. Is this a special shock or can I match it at the local auto parts store.
Looks like my week for SHOCKS.

They are the same shocks as used on the trailers.

You can get it at a parts store. I brought mine into AutoZone and they matched it perfectly.

That shock is a horizontal shock.

It is only available from an Airstream dealer.

No auto parts store in the country would have that special shock. They may have one that looks similair, but they do not have that special made Airstream shock, as per the Airstream factory.

Vertical shocks, "will not" function correctly in a horizontal position.

All goes to prove, once you become a senior citizen, you make mistakes, which are non taxable, since the feds recognize that your time is limited once you draw social security.

First, let me admit I know little of the engineering or design of shock absorbers but I'm don't understand why orientation would be a factor on their performance. Basically, are they not just a flow restrictive disk in a cylinder? some use fluid, some gas. Why would gravity matter?

The valving is different.

Try using a bottle jack, lying on it's side, with the pump side on top as opposed to the bottom.

Nothing in life is as simple as we might like it to be.
