The fuel regulator was a holley unit that came with the kit, external to the throttle body, I mounted it to the frame rail. I ordered an aeromotive unit that should arrive today and be totally overkill. Overkill=design margin=reliability, hopefully

I wasn't too impressed with it's feel when putting it in but didn't think much of it. A cast part with unimpressive chrome plated surface finish. All the other parts of the kit were higher end, a lot of CNC aluminum for both the fuel pump assembly and throttle body.
Probably 95% of the reason I decided to go with a GM OEM TBI was parts availability. It might be because of all the old vehicles that I drive but parts availability definitely concerns me. Probably the one part I don't have as spare yet is the actual throttle body. That's probably next on my list to source.

Yea, in 10 years getting replacements for an aftermarket system is iffy. On the flipside, that OEM system from the 90s is already 30 years old, parts stores don't necessarily have things in stock anyway and in another 10 years it will be firmly in antique territory, even sourcing parts for my 80s toyota 22re is occasionally challenging and they made a billion of them. I tried sourcing new OE injectors for that a couple years ago and eventually gave up, it's either service the originals or aftermarket

I have 4 in the airstream, considering adding an in-engine-bay system too
