Oil Cooler Line
I had to recore the radiator on my 1984 Classic Motorhome. When I reinstalled it I found that the bottom aluminum oil cooler line has a leak just before the fitting at the radiator. Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement line. It goes from the adaptor above the oil filter to the lower fitting on the radiator. I would appreciate manufacturer or auto parts store name and part number if available.

You will have to take it off to match a new one to make sure you get the right one. I would go to a GM dealer if your chassis is a chevrolet.
Does the fitting that goes in the radiator have an 0-ring? If the hose is leaking where it is crimped on to the fitting then you will just have to get a replacement.

Any mechanic should be able to replace that line. Using the right diameter tubing & a tubing bender. It's the same as replacing a fuel or brake line.

Not on a chevy,, they are like a power steering hose, reinforced rubber hose with crimped fittings on each end. You thinking of a transmission cooler line Riky?

The line going into the radiator is straight tubing with an O ring against a flat flange then a nut that tightens against the other side of the flange pushing into into the radiator female fitting. It is the same on the other end. My mechanic advised that on the standard P30 Vans and Trucks the line is on the opposite side or passenger side while on the motorhome it is on the driver side and is configured differently. That is the reason I am asking if someone has replaced theirs and knows what to get. If I can't find one has anyone just put a jumper hose at the oil filter and bypassed the radiator. I am wondering how much heat is dissipated by the oil cooler and if it is enough to make a difference.

I would keep the cooler. There are places that can make you a new line if you bring in the old one. Call around to places that sell industrial hoses. They also may be able to crimp a new hose to your fittings.

Just to clarify this is a solid aluminum tubing with several bends, has no rubber hoses etc.

So is the 0-ring leaking or is the tube cracked? If it is cracked, it can be TIG welded.

I believe you are talking about the same lines I recently had replaced. They were sent to a shop where they duplicated them. My mechanic noted that it was fortunate it was a good job on them. Apparently they can be tricky to get right.

Any hydraulic shop such as a "Parker store" should be able to take care of you all the new hose and fittings you could imagine.

I have ordered two possible alternative lines that fit other GM products to see if I can make them work. I also found that the fittings and O rings are the same as Air Conditioner line fittings; this will allow me to use the fittings and put a Oil resistant hose between them if the two other lines will not work. Once the alternative lines come in next monday I will determine the best solutions but at least I have some alternatives.

I did a search and came up with this one...
ACDELCO Part # 12472194 from RockAuto... is was about $70.
Should be the same as a Chevy C30 from the same year.
I know the part you are talking about as I had a leaking hose on my '87 Suburban with a 454. I was lucky to have a spare engine with the hose that didnt leak.

One of the alternative lines worked fine with a little modification, bending the line a little. That problem is fixed, radiator is back in and everything is working fine.
